I spent a few weeks tracking down the 2005 Saleen exhaust that featured the butterfly exhaust valves that were prone to breaking. The reason being is because it's louder than the more common exhaust but quieter at idle. This meets what I wanted to do with the exhaust perfectly. I've been trying to track down instructions online to set up the butterfly valves and I just can't seem to find where to connect the hoses.

Does anyone know how I'm supposed to hook up the vacuum lines? I'd appreciate it. I can see why they installed the things because it's way too loud driving on the highway.

 

First of all your car needs to be a 2005 model year. If it had the baffled mufflers on it and they were replaced through a warranty replacement then there should be a vacuum line that has a cap on the end of it somewhere near each rear wheel. The primary line runs under the car on the drivers side..I personally have never followed it all the way to each wheel but I am assuming there is a "T" somewhere back there.......or there might be two vacuum lines running there....but i kind of doubt that. There's a metal tube that runs from the back of the car up to the front and plugs into the tangle of vacuum lines under the hood.

I've got the setup on my car, but the valves are wired open and the tube is capped at both ends.

It's pretty decent at cruise on the highway, but I still put Dynamat Extreme on the floor of the trunk and back seats.

 

Amazing to me that people think the cars are too loud without them I have an o/r H pipe on my car and it is FAR from being too loud.....my wife LOVES the sound of it. Those valves are nothing but rattle traps....hince the reason they were TSB'd and replaced. Best thing to do is bypass them fully open (as I have done) or replace them with the '06 & up exhaust.

 

I think the best answer is, it doesnt work. Thats why they were "recalled" and replaced.
