ok. my friend owns a 'saleen' s281. but it is missing many of the features of a saleen. it doesn't have the number in front of the headlight, it's missing the saleen seats, as well as the saleen brakes. and many other things, but still.

ok, any saleen owner who has a s281 between 00 and 03, could you please run your vin through this site:

and post what it says? dont have to post the vin, i just want to know if it says mustang GT, or saleen.

or maybe somone knows the answer. i dont know. i drive a mercury

theres no engine plaque that i can see, nor a number on the front bumper......looks like a GT to me

Dont see any underdrive pulley's on it either. Mine are a reddish metallic color and have saleen written all over them. Probably faleen. Vin #'s are unique to saleen, but when punched up in a vin computer like insurance companies, etc... it pops up as a mustang Gt, even in Fords own computer systems. So that wont tell you much, unless you called saleen headquarters and asked if they had that vin on file as a saleen. I dont know what year that one is and when they started using the 3 piece spoilers, but that spoiler doesnt look like mine. And mine doesnt have that trim piece in the middle of the door. But maybe verts do, mine is a hard top. BTW, saleen brakes and seats are options, not all saleens have those.

just so you know, the saleen brakes and seats are optional.

however he has a GT hood, no bumper numbers, no engine plaque and theres a funny horizontal line on his doors that ive never seen on a saleen before.

also, i dont know what year that car is but unless its a VERY early 2002 or earlier, it should have the heat extractor hood (mid 2002 and above all have heat extractor hood.)

Thats so you dont get door dings. Helps out a ton if you have to go into parking lots a lot.

All saleens are aftermarket. the ford dealer that sells saleens gets the GTs from ford and then they turn around and send them to saleen to have the upgrades put on. the three versons that they have are to tell you what upgrade kit they used "the more they put into it".

thats a GT. the tail loks weird and ive never seen that line on the door. thats simply a gt with k/n CAI

i was comparing this one, with a 2002 mustang saleen i found on the net.


the door line sticks out and so does the hood difference, but the spoiler looks the same.

also found a saleen with the same hood, just no door line.
