Default Brake help

The right front brake on my 2000 Saleen S/C sounds like it is scraping (metal to metal). I notice it especially while turning and it sometimes goes away after I brake a little harder. In any case, I will need to change the pads at least. My car has the 13 inch optional Saleen brakes. Does anyone know if these are obtainable from Saleen only or can I find these somewhere else? Also, I would like to have the drilled and/or slotted rotors but am concerned with keeping it all Saleen. Can someone point me in the right direction to find and price the right items? Thanks in advance.

If you need to replace your rotors, contact Chicane sport tuning (www.chicanesport.com), Joe should be able to hook you up. Be prepared to spend big if you want to stay with the two piece Alcon rotors, they are very expensive. But give Joe a call and he can tell you the going price on them.

You have the Saleen/Brembo 13" brakes. You can get drilled replacement rotors almost anywhere for them.

If you want drilled, be prepared to pay extra. Slotted perform just as well and not prone to crack. There is no such thing as a "Saleen" rotor anyway so don't sweat it. You have Joe's RIPP kit on your car. Call him like Mike said. He will set you straight. Oh yea. Do you have contact or is there still pad there. You said the noise goes away when you turn and or brake. Maybe it's a wheel bearing???

I just received the brake pads I was looking for and thought some of you might benefit from the info i got in the process. One of the parts department guys at Saleen said that they no longer carry pads for the alcon 13 inch brakes on the "older" cars. He referred me to Streetwise (aka Hidden Creek Racing) in Cali. The guy there said they carry one brand (Ferodo Racing) and another brand that can be ordered for the alcon brakes. Their phone number is 949-637-7856.

I thought you had the brembos. The best replacement pads for the 13" Alcons are the Porterfield R4s pads. Stop almost as good as the Alcon pads but throw little dust.

Yeah, that confirms what the guy at streetwise said. He had to order the Porterfield's but the Ferodo's were in stock. He did mention the dust on these ones but I was anxious to get the car back on the road. It seems the more I look into these brakes, the more confused I get. I had the pads installed and it took care of the problem. However, it is obvious I will need rotors soon too.

My calipers say Alcon on them just behind the Saleen logo. They are not drilled or slotted and look like a stock Mustang rotor to me aside from the diameter. I have been told that they are "integrated" or "integral" and that Brembo does make the replacement rotors like you all have pointed out. Problem is, when I look for these Brembo replacements, should it be the "Cobra" style rotors or is it just size that I should be concerned with to fit the Saleen calipers?

I apologize for the ignorance but am relieved to be finding help here.
