Will Saleen knob work with MGW shifter?
I'm getting ready to order the MGW shifter. I've read that this shifter is pretty awesome. I guess anything is better than the stock Saleen/Hurst! Just wondering if the Momo **** will fit on the MGW?
I don't think you will have a problem as long as the mgw shifter accepts a "stock" shift **** thread. The saleen shifter is really stock with some bolt on items that shortens th throws... Sorry this is for an 05, not sure about earlier models. I know my 89 Saleen had a Hurst stock. Not sure what they used after the Fox bodies changed in 94-04. MGW makes some very nice machined interior pieces and their shifter at least looks really well built.
Juztang,
I did mine a few months ago on my 02 S281. The MGW shifter is amazing, I love it. The MOMO stock shift **** is not threaded. It's basically just tightened on by three tiny allen screws at the base of the shift ****. The MGW shifter is threaded, but you dont actually use the threading. You are just super tightening the three allen screws on to that threaded shaft. The three allen screws are hidden by that shiny metal trim ring right at the bottom of the **** that says MOMO. Unscrew that and you will expose the allen screws. The only problem is that the shift **** is too tall for the MGW shifter with the trim ring. You cant install the trim ring back on it with the MGW. You'll see what I mean when you try do to it. So i basically tightned on the MOMO **** onto the MGW shaft and then had to cut out a piece of black leather and just wrap it around the 3 allen screws so they arent exposed and ugly looking. I wish the trim ring fit, because it does look nice and cover up those threads/screw holes, but the leather worked out fine. It just looks like its a part of the shifter boot. Let me know if you have any questions.
