Just found out that my car is eligible for the power train warranty AT NO COST for the 670 HP kit. My installer Paul in Cincinnati http://www.paulsautomotiveengineering.com/ verified that through Ford. The form has to be completed by an ASE certified technician and sent in within 30 days of install. I really didn't want to pay for it but was prepared to. Kinda pisses me off that the Roush guy I spoke to told me it would cost $995 and that the 727 kit voided the drive train warranty all together. I'm wondering if that's even true now. The more I deal with Roush along with the few Roush Mustang owners I've met, I'm starting not to be a fan. Either way, I'm glad I didn't have to spend it so I can apply the money to an exhaust I just purchased yesterday. Went with Corsa Touring AB with stainless black quad-tips. Ironically this meant I had to buy the Roush valance. Bounced between the Sport and Touring but really only want an aggressive note when I'm...being aggressive!
I should have my 2016 GT back towards the end of next week with the Roush Supercharger on it! I'll have some definite comments then! I hope it doesn't make me wet my pants in passing gear! I'm 74 so, I can qualify for "Depends" if necessary to drive it!
Where are you from Mr. D? You ever been to mustang week myrtle beach? I'll be there this year July 18-24. If you feel up to it you should go. It's a lot of fun. I would like to see your roush charged s550 when it's complete. Going to post any videos?

Too bad... I'm on the "Left Coast"! I live in California just off Highway 15 in the High Desert where you come up out of the valley where San Bernardino is & are heading for Las Vegas! It's about 2500 ft. high in what is called the "Victor Valley"! The cities are Hesperia, Victorville & Apple Valley! There are 99.98% Conservative Republicans from the flat states here & about 11 moderate Liberals like me in my area, but it has clear skies & still a little open areas unlike Southern California! I live about an hour from HRnB.... but he's rich & can live closer to the beach!
Should pick up my Mustang Wed, or Thursday! Even at 74 years old, I'm still getting excited about it! It's my last "Go round" likely with such a car! Likely my next ride will have little wheels & a little electric motor underneath I can ride around "in" Walmart.... but not quite yet!
Oh, yer that Old Phart with that "Supercharged Yeller Mustang" that goes to all them Cruise Nights????
I assume that's you with the little boy in the avatar! Looks like you are in uniform! Thank you for your service if so!
SSGT Mr. D
Here's me in the late 60's keeping out of Vietnam, but into the Watts Riots for 2 weeks! My mother told me not to get old, but I didn't listen!
Lol @ Mr. D for the Depends comments. If your driving one of these cars, I'm sure your far from anything like that! Looking forward to pics of your build and getting some feedback. I'm doing the same kit that should be installed in the next month or two. Money is ready just waiting for a good reason...like my wife pissing me off or something...to pull the trigger on it and schedule. Maybe I'll pick a fight with here this week to hi-jack the delay and speed up the process I've actually got two shops in a small bidding war so I'll take the best price. Both are ASE certified so I think it will come down to cost. They are both even giving me a better price for the kit than I've found online. Paul's in Cincy has a lot of experience with Ford race cars and has clips on his websites of some of them running at Road Atlanta and Mid Ohio. He also seems to have more fun with the whole project where the younger guys at the other place tend to be more business-like about it.
I did get the Corsa Sport catback with the Roush valance installed last weekend as you can see in the pic. Car got a little dusty while I was working on it but its all clean, clean now. The pipes were easy but the valance was almost a nightmare. The template wasn't spot on for the holes that I drilled in the bumper and would up drilling extra holes to adjust. The plastic screw holes are not even reinforced to you only get once chance to over tighten then its stripped. Can't go back once you decide on this mod since you have to remove the old valance and plus cutting off a piece of the bumper. Any time you have to take a sawzall to a new car it gives you the pucker factor. Also, the extensions the attached to the end of the valance just behind the rear wheel did not fit snugly on either side! there is a noticeable gap if you look close. Roush makes a pretty good supercharger but I am not at all impressed with the quality and non-functionality of their body kit parts. I won't ever buy another external part from them. Worst $199 and 4 hrs I've ever spent on a care.
As for the Corsa exhaust? Top quality parts and sound and appearance is killer.
Btw...both Mr. D and Jhutter, thanks for your service as well. I did 8 years AF...but don't hold that against me please
I put a write up on the Roush Supercharger on my 2016 GT in 5.0L GT S550 Tech for anyone interested. It's titled "Picked Up My Roush Supercharged 2016 GT" I give my impressions on how it performs, sounds, etc.
When you're comparing kits make sure to read the entire dyno graph, Twin screw and Centrifugal do tend to make stronger top end numbers but lack the torque of say the TVS. However a big part of those numbers are at the very top of the pull, some nearing 8000 rpm. So really ask yourself how often you plan to wind your own car that high to get the power vs having maybe slightly lower numbers up top but much more power in the low-mid range.
Couldn't be happier with the Roush Supercharger on my 2016 GT. Adding it to a GT creates a lot of car for the money! It really feels alive with the automatic in "Sport" mode. Sport Mode keeps the RPM up & therefore gives pretty much instant, massive power. I requires some care! I think it is arguable that a Mustang GT automatic with a Roush Supercharger & the "best tires for off the line traction" maybe the fastest car of the Big Three American Sport Cars. You would have to get the traction to control the power with the "traction control" turned off which is not easy at all. In the "Track Mode" it is pretty fast, but I think a lot is still lost due to the "Traction Control". Myself, I don't race, so I don't care! My thing is acceleration from about 25 to 80.... or a 100 "IF" no one is around looking. The acceleration from 35 to 100 with an automatic is flat out scary! It is very nice to not have to clutch & shift so your complete attention can be directed to the "closing speeds" of the dots that were cars ahead of you on the highway! A dot on the highway becomes the trunk of a car in just a few seconds! My 73 year old wife has been a lover of speed since I met her at 18! She said, "It doesn't go as fast of the speedo shows does it?" Then... she went WOT on a good desert back highway from about 35 to 120 MPH & then backed off screaming, "Oh my God! I love it!"
Old Age is a sin against humanity! Oh well, the alternative to getting old is .... Of course some of you young guys don't ever think you will be old..... surprise!!
When she was driving my GT, she was still 18 at the Los Angeles County Fair in the year 1960! [B]That's 56 years ago! That can't be!
Wow Mr D. Beautiful wife and happy to hear you two are still together and have enjoyed your Mustangs over the years. My wife gets motion sick easily and is not into fast cars. So I gets my car kicks with a couple other muscle cars gear-heads every Thursday nite at the local strip and every other Saturday at Cars&Coffee.
Anyway, I took your advice and went with the Roush super. However, I took the $995 warranty dollars and applied it to the 727 kit. Hard to resist getting more power under the hood! But since mine is manual, I am having severe problems getting off the line and thru 2nd gear at the drag strip. Believe it or not, I ran 1/10 of a second better (12.93) without the supercharger and a 93 octane DiabloSport tune. The end top speed is about 8mph faster, but best time so far is 13.1. It takes me about half the track of bogging down from the dig and crazy wheel spin after shifting to 2nd before I can get it together. Top speed was 122 vs 114. But once it hooks up, it runs like a scalded ape!
Any advice would be appreciated. I should mention that this is how the car is setup:
- staggered 20" wheels at normal pressure (31lbs); Mickey Thompson 255x35front / 275x35rear
- Eibach ProKit lowering springs (1")
- Driveshaft Shop 800hp half shafts
- Steeda full Stop-the-Hop kit
After doing some research, I have also ordered a set of 18x10 rims and 305x45 MT ET Street R for a taller sidewall and hopefully better grip for a clutch car.
Here is some about my track experience. I launched the car at 3K using LC. All but one run was done with TC enabled. The one time I disabled it, there was hopeless wheel spin through gears 1 and 2. Generally, the car jumps off the line then bogs down severely before accelerating. Then when I shift to second, I get a lot of wheel spin. There were also times after I shift into second and it bogs down quite a bit also. But I couldn't really determine when the car would do that. I try my best to shift as close to 6K as I can.
