Got gt40P heads installed, got Explorer lower intake installed. got mac shorty exhaust on. Got 70mm TB mounted on upper intake (not installed). NOTE: Got the plugs in - just a matter of dexterity... So that's done.
Today hand tighten sparkplugs in. Can't tighten with std socket seems exhaust flange in the way - how do I tighten plugs?
Also putting valve covers back on. There are 4 bolts with extensions extending about 1" out of the bolts - what position do they belong on the valve cover? I'd assume 1 on each end of the VCover. But I've been wrong so many times b/4. Here it looks like I got to take off the lower intake manifold off as on the passenger side I can't slide the valve cover under a long tube attached to the lower intake. Brother of mine did that install work and shoulda install the valve cover b/4 the intake. I'm thinking I might not live through this experience.
thanks, Steve.

I have p heads, I usually just use the spark plug socket and put a wrench on the end of it. I can never manage to fit the ratchet in there between the headers and the heads. Always works for me.
The valve cover bolts I can't help you with since I've removed most of the stuff that need them in the first place
No, I mean I don't know where the ones with the studs go. I still have them on there but I just put them in locations that are easy to get at since you can't easily get a socket at them. I can't remember what all attaches to them other than the dipstick on the drivers side
If you're referring to the oil dipstick, its actually held in place by one of the header bolts, not a valve cover bolt.I believe the only purpose of the studded valve cover bolts was to provide an easy means of mounting the oem spark plug wire looms.
The vertical portion of the loom was hollow at the bottom so the loom could be set directly over top of the studded bolts then the U shaped portions of the loom, that each plug wire is pushed into, would face outward towards the driver or passenger side. You could easily remove the loom by simply pulling upwards on it,but it was secure enough to not need a means of bolting it down. The studded bolts get installed at the Front Lower & Center Lower position on both valve covers. The ⤴'s below indicate the correct mounting positions for each valve cover studded bolt.
The oem looms looked similar to the ones below, except they were longer/taller.You can see how the bottom is hollow so that it slides right down on top of the studded part of the bolt.
