Default Paint peeling on my 06 gt hood

This car has been awesome, though this morning I notice some paint in the front hood is peeling. I haven't hit anything or anything.

What should I do?

Ford had a problem with that back then but won't do anything about it now I believe. Just get it fixed by a reputable paint shop.

You can check all the TSBs on this issue... You're on your own...

Sucks, but paint was never expected to last forever.

Looks like bubbled underneath. Any other bubbles?

Might wait and get hood redone later?

Yeah this is the only part thats peeling, I guess I'm lucky it lasted 13 years no problems, I saw people with much newer stangs have the issue.

So is the factory paint defctive or is it a problem with the hood? If I get it repainted at a body shop will it peel again?

Not if done properly.

It's a common problem and related to the aluminum skin and the different metal bracing -- with improper prep at the factory. You can have it repainted but it will come back because it is impregnated in the metals. The only "solution" is to buy an aftermarket hood instead

That's a bummer. Tbh I don't think it's worth buying a new hood, especially since all the aftermarket hoods seems to be heavier fiberglass and I'm not into cars like I used to be when I was younger, so these days I'd rather put that money in my savings account lol.

What years are affected? I've seen posts with 2014 mustangs that have bubbling paint. Jeez! Are the new s550s safe? How far does this defect go?

It affected all years of the S197. I'm not sure about the S550, guess eventually I will find out though!
