Hello mustang forum, I am knew to this site, and was looking for an answer to my question. I've got a 2007 Cali Special. I am currently running the stock wheels and tires. They are 18x8.5" wheels I believe, with 235/50r18s on them. I am thinking about upgrading to a 19x9.5" wheel, but am not sure what size tire I want. I like the wide look, but I also do not like a stretched tire. I would prefer to NOT have staggered fitment because then I would not be able to rotate them. Would there be any rubbing issues? What can I fit without rubbing issues? I am totally open to any suggestions. I have looked into the Nitto 555G2s, but I do not know what size. I live where it rains a lot, so I would need something to wick water, but also want performance. Should I upgrade? If so, what?

My recommendation is for Michelin Pilot Super Sports in either 255/40-19 or 265/40-19. The 255 tire is a little smaller than OE, the 265 a little larger - I'm talking only a couple tenths of an inch here. I really think you'd be hard-pressed to see the difference unless the two options were side by side. You will want the offset to be about +45, which will let you run them in any position on the car with no need for spacers up front.



And the reason I'm recommending the MPSS is because they're good enough in the rain to be one of about two "go-to" tire choices for track driving in the rain. Meaning that you're getting extra margin at lower speeds over most any other tire in the wet. Even in 285/35, at 110+ mph at the very end, once I got past the spray being thrown up by the Corvette. My Mustang's "street set" is 265/40-18 on 18 x 9.5, differing from what you're looking for only in 18" vs 19" wheel diameter. Tire Rack currently lists the 255/40-19 on special closeout and priced accordingly. Run that size 1 psi higher than what your car's door sticker calls for.
