I'll talk to Richard tonight. You should have said something earlier. I didn't know you had gear whine??

Yeah I'm sure they'll take care of it. Proabably something minor.

Eric, next time you're at Strictly can you ask them what their warranty period is on the gears? The whine is getting bad.

It started a while back, but it wasn't all that loud, and, to be honest, I didn't know what I was hearing was actually gear whine. Now it's getting annoying. Everytime I let off the gas it's howling at me. I know they'll stand behind their work, right?

Do any of you guys know a good tint place on the northside of Houston (preferably Kingwood/Humble area)? I want to get darker than 35% however Humble Tint will only go as dark as 35%... I was informed in a post in the S197 section that despite what Humble Tint told me, you can infact go darker than 35% (even though it might be illegal).
You won't get any shop to do your tint and warranty it if you go below 35%. In order to warranty the tint, they have to put their sticker on it, and if they put on darker than legal tint the cops can go after them.

However... I do know some shops will do it, and just tell you what I did and not warranty it. If you go darker in the back which is ok, 35% I think is dark enough on the sides.

I would have said something earlier, but I didn't know what I was hearing was actually "gear whine." Truthfully, it whined from day 1. I just didn't realize it. I told Richard that I had noise on deceleration, and he said "oh, that's normal." I told him that night in Kemah.

Come to find out, you would normally only hear the whine on decel while the engine is under load (clutch not pushed in). In any event, it got very noticeable after driving to San Antonio, and now it's very annoying. I just want them to fix it.

Well I'm sure they will. No problem I tell him about it. Next week would be the best time as this week they are getting all the race cars ready for Fun Ford Weekend.

Don't worry....they'll get you fixed up!

Other than the whine how do you like the performance the 4.10s add?
I'm considering new gears as my next "go fast" mod.

The 4.10s add a very noticable SOTP difference. It won't gain you HP, but it'll make you feel like you did.
Just be ready for the gas mileage reduction. It's a trade-off; performance at a cost.
