Arizona Emissions laws?
Moving there next year. What are the Emissions laws down there?
Up here we got rid of Emissions testing back in 2012.
I wanna get long tubes and O/R pipes and some Cams but don't wanna shoot myself in the foot trying to pass IM down in the states.
Daily driver, fun car. Sounds/looks cool, makes fart noises.. not a drag racer by any means.

Anyways, they only do an OBDII check for stored codes or sensors reading "Not Ready" for emissions and they check your gas cap for leaks. No dyno and no tailpipe sniffer. I don't know if the rear O2 sensors turned off for an OR pipe would show up in the scan or not or if they would care if they were turned off. You'll have to look into that specifically.
For OBDI and older cars they may put it on a dyno and run a tailpipe sniffer.
Oh and new cars aren't required to get emissions checked until they are five years old. After they turn five, it's every two years. Although I'm not sure about New to AZ cars that are under 5. Over five it's a requirement to register the car in-state.

However, I now live in Mohave County, where there is NO emissions testing whatsoever. If you reside OUTSIDE the metropolitan testing area, where no testing is required, but commute into and out of the metro, testing IS required. imp
Thank you for the heads up. I plan on living in either Gilbert, Chandler or Queen Creek and working in Phoenix or maybe Scottsdale do I'll be doing some commuting to work.
I haven't decided on if I'd drive the GT daily or not, I've been thinking of getting an older F-body with T-tops which may or may not be a bad idea lol
I've been back and forth to AZ and California for the last few years so I'm still new to all the heat but to me the idea of a convertible or t-tops appeal to me down in the states.
I had one (F-body) but sold it recently lol

Depends on WHERE in AZ. When I lived in Phoenix, full-bore dynamometer testing with tailpipe probe was mandatory for all but the oldest vehicles. Same was true for the Tucson area.

Any of your cars ever fail or have visible mods like the rear O2 sensors turned off? Those are the only reasons I can see them dyno testing you in Maricopa. Of course it all depends on how many years ago you talking? In the last 14 years, they only dyno tested when we first moved here to register our vehicles.
Really? I live in Chandler, OBDII scan only. Phoenix and Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Tempe, etc are all in Maricopa County.

This explains the time difference. I moved to PHX in 1979, and left in 1999. During that time, full-blown dyno testing was instituted.
So, things have changed since 1999? imp
I'll just keep it clean, keep the cats and get a supercharger later on
I had a Vortech HO kit @ 10 psi back in the days and it was more than enough power for a daily driver. 4.10's made it a monster out of the hole, but this time around it'll stay with the 3.31's. It'll most likely have a better power band for the blower to spool up anyways in the mid-top end.

Ahhh, ok, yep, I moved here in 2004 and they dyno'd both of our vehicles at that time. I don't recall them doing it in 2006 when we needed to re-register our vehicles. They still have dynos at the places but I've only seen them use them on older diesels and non OBDII cars.
