I'm in the Atlanta area and they DID check for my cats with a mirror thing on the end of a long pole. My car is pretty low and he was still able to see them.

You passed a smog test with no cats??? Do you have the results to hand (or at least, the pass/fail levels that the test requires), I'd be real interested to see them - I'm pretty sure there is no way you would pass a CA smog test with no cats...

I didn't see him look under the car. I still have my cats though. after reading my
printout it may not be so bad it passed everything but the readiness test, so I'm
hoping I just need to drive it far enough to get the computer to recycle

Here in ATL they do look under the car with a mirror on a pole. Same thing they use to look for bombs/drugs etc under cars. This was with my GF's focus.

I have turn downs so they have to crawl up under my car to put the sniffers in...i run a x pipe all year except for the couple of hours that I need to get my emissions done..just swap the pipes out for the test and swap them back when i get home
