Default speed Density Modifications

Hey guys, I have a87GT speed density 5.0. So far the only modifications i have done are underdrive pullies,3.73 rear gears, and a new computer chip. I also had a B&M Shift kit installed in the transmission when it was rebuilt. What are some other modifications i can do without having to change to mass air, or can i put in an intake, heads, and cam without changing to mass air. any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Justin.

you can do heads and intake and even a cam... you just have to choose a cam carefully with SD in mind...... I believe Dimebag is running a comp XE 270 cam with good results

you can do the basic h/c/i , gt40p or gt40 from the cobra 5.0's work well ,i am useing the xe264hr from comp cams (part 35-349-8) in my 87 gt ,doing some port work myself to the intake and heads (just gasket matching ), there are many cams that will work in sd jsut have to pay attention to the lobe seperation , it has to remain at 114 degrees .
the injectors have to stay at 19# as the stock set up .
what chip do you have in it ? and are you able to send it off and have it reflashed to your new upgrades ? i would like to know more about the chip if you could .
and remember nitrous is our friend , i would recomend looking at a 100 shot .

stay 19 on the injectors
cam caution
gt 40's cobra upper and lower
t body and spacer wouldnt hurt
install a diff fuel pump
bump the timing flick the front sway bar
put the battery in the trunk
adjustable fuel reg
suspension
4cyl springs
box the stock upper and lower control arms
install new bushings in the control arms
rear lakewood 50 50 shocks
put it on a tire
throw in a ds loop that wouldnt be a bad idea
sub frames
you could also install energy suspension motor mounts as well as a trans mount
i run syntec blend in the motor
and synthetic rear grease
try some of these and pm me if you need anything else i'll be glad to help with what ever i can

i am still curious about the chip if it can be sent back and reflashed to maximize the new mods that are installed .because isn't the chip you have programed for the mods you already have on the car ? or did you gat a sct chip that has the optional levels for the upgrades that you have and what you plan on haveing.

hey stangbanger, i'm not really sure about the computer chip, it was installed buy the guy who owned the car before me. I did all the other modifications though. I might be able to buy one of those handheld things to program it myself though. and as for the cam. are any of ford racing cams good for sd, or how about anderson motorsports. i have a ported and polished upper and lower stock intake that i can install. or do you think i would be better off with a gt40?

how far out is the intake proted ? i know a guy who ran one like that on a s/c setup for a while but eventually went with a cobra intake.and far as the ford letter cams go the answere is no they will not work in the sd cars , the anderson i am not sure of i have not checked into those , you could ask nitrousd85 about anderson products i beleive him and his brother use alot of there wares.this table gives a list of cams that work well with sd and the ones that work but need some minor adjustments to work well(https://mustangforums.com/upfiles/55...2D4E1C1795.gif)
this is a complete table of what works and has the part numbers and vendors names on it as well . in addition there are some nitous cams from comp that will work also .
when it comes to the came the name of the game is the lobe seporation for sd which is 114 degrees .the intake would be your call i don't have any idea what a ported and polished stock intake would flow . personally i like the looks of the cobra and the new bbk intake , both of which will also work on our cars but i got a good price on the 40p intake i got and i am doing the port and polish myself , but i have expeirence with this stuff too as i did it for 4 yrs in a custom metal finishing shop .
far as the chip i was just curious cause i was thinking of gettig the sct chip that is custom programed to your mods and ecu your car has , i was wanting to know if that is what you were running and what you thought of it performance wise .

Thanks for the list of cams Stangbabger87! I Think I;m probably just gonna get a new cobra intake. The other one was givin to me by a guy i work with for painting his car so i really dont know how far it is ported, and I'm not sure that i can really trust it! What are the limitations for new heads on a sd car. i would like to put on some better flowing heads with bigger valvesif it would work properley! I really appreciate all your help!
