well 40p heads are a good cheap source for better flow seein how the are at 145cc and stock e7 is i think 124cc, and the true gt40's( found on 5.0 cobra's in the sn95 style) are also good . the 40p's will drop compression though to 8.8:1 but that wont hinder performance as the flow of the head has increased .
if you are looking toward after market i have heard good things about twisted wedge heads on these cars , and the small afr's (165's)and the intake you are chooseing (the cobra) is a graet choice as it is good for 350+ hp and about max for our cars is 350 with juice after that it is either upgrade the ecu(megasquirt or xfi by fast) or mass air or carb, to get more .
what are you looking to build a consistant bracket car , all out drag, or a street beast ?
with 40p heads and cobra intake and ?cam and 100 shot wet should get ya over 300 hp w/out spray you are looking at 270-280hp pending on cam choice .
alero99 turned me on to the fact that you can run the stock cam and use 1.7 roller rockers and get good power (changes cam from a .444 lift to .472 lift )and use a 75 shot and still make good power , just wont break 300hp but it would be close tho.

hey cruehead i have checked into ported and polished stock intake's and if it is done right they can produce the same hp as the 40p. there is a guy on the net by the name of thomas moss who does thesefor a liveing and they numbers he showed were really impressive for a stock intake

I think i might check into the twisted wedge heads and see how they flow. I'm not looking to build a drag car or anything, just want a weekend toy! i have checked into the comp xe254hr cam and i beleive that is the one i am going to buy. This this cam have and piston and valve clearance issjes i should know about? I have also heard you can get a couple extra horse by removing an air silenceer. where is this located and will it make That much of a difference? can you use 1.6 or 1.7 rockers with the xe264hr cam to get a bigger lift! Thanks again stangbanger for your help and thanks to everyone else as well

S.d and proud of it!!!!!!

you shouldn't have a clearence isue with the cam .if you just got the carmoree than likely the air silencer is gone that is one of the first things done to a fox other than bumpimg up the timing. the rockers would give the cam a bigegr lift but i wouldn't recomend it your talin almost a half of a inch lift withthe cam now . you would have to get with dimebag on those rr's and that cam i am not to sure on it .
and what you want is what i am building now , something to take to the trck and play and something that i can take the kids for icecream too.
