Turbo Carb
So what all is involved in Turboing a carbed car?
I was reading a little bit about needing to seal up the throttle plate shafts in the carb better.. And getting a float that can handle the extra pressure without collapsing. Also read about using some sort of system to inject fuel under boost.
What all is involved ( mainly speaking in a Blow Through set up).
Is blow through better than draw through?
Sorry for the new questions. Maybe I shoulda put this in the turbo section? I dunno.
have fun.

not that i know a whole lot, but ive looked a little into turboing a carbed engine, and ive seen alot of blow through. and from what i read up on and researched i found it to be kind of expensive too. i think all around it may be cheaper to just stay with EFI and much less of a headache. but then again, ill probably get proved wrong

not that this directly applys but as for doing on the cheap i read an articly about a guy sourcing an old tubro off a subby boxter motor and mounting it up for a carbed set but the motor was aircooled (old Vw). i'll see if i can find the article.
Alot of guys call it the redneck way, and that efi is 100 times better, but if somethings cheap (relatively) and fun it could be worth it.

The easiest way to go about it is with a "carb hat" blow through setup....
They are pretty easy to obtain for classic Holley style carbs.... and there's plenty if info on boost prepping Holleys out there as well.
Fuel management with a "hat" setup requires a boost referenced fuel pressure regulator (not just rising rate) with a sensor in the carb enclosure ("hat") that adds an extra psi of fuel for every psi of boost seen...
