ok let me dumb this down! the car is speed density, full stock weight and most mass air cars like it only run 9.0`s on a good night a 8.9, its about 2 tenths faster than average!
I`m just wondering if this low grade setup is normally this good performance wise!

Sorry for the mass confusion! I dont normally ask things like this but i`m curious as to how!?

Uhhhhh....

So is your question how can an SD car run faster than a MAF car with a similar setup?

Alot of it is the driver. You said it had aluminum heads....that right there is a plus up. Of course its possible. SD cars are fast too if you know what your doing.

Most of the aftermarket EFI systems are SD, and the big EFI systems used by a lot of racers are SD as well. There's a reason FAST uses an SD system in all of their EFI setups.

Back in the day...a stock SD car was just a tick faster than a stock MA car....why you ask?

The MAF meter was actually a restriction in the air intake. Think about it...the stock throttle body is 60mm right? Now stick a maf meter in the flow and you have a restriction.

Take a slightly modified SD car....on that does not require mass air due to mods...and you get a car that is just a tick quicker than the same mods on a MAF car.

MAF does not mean faster. It has the capability to be faster when the mods on the car require a fuel metering system such as mass air to make the correct fuel calculations based on air flow into the engine.

Make sense?

All MAF does is meter fuel based in airflow. SD meters fuel based on engine parameters. That means MAF can adapt to changes in the engine, SD is programmed based on the engine and any changes to it require tweaking the computer tables. As long as the SD is setup correctly and the engine isn't modified afterward, it's fine. If it is modified then tweak the ECM.
