Default Voltage gauge reading zero

Hi guys,I just picked up a 1985 Mustang with a detroit locker in the rear end and a tremec 3550 transmission in it. Anyways to get to my question my voltage guage is reading zero all the time. I had to replace the alternater recently and noticed that one of the wires on the back of the alternater was cut. The wire from the harness goes to the "sta" on the back of the alternater and then the wire looks like it comes back out of the "sta" and is supposed to go to somewhere but that is where it is cut.I'm assuming that this wire is the one that makes my gauge work but I'm not sure. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That is what I am planning on doing once I figure out where it goes to. It looks like it is supposed to hook up to another part of the alternator. There is no connection on the rest of the alternator that looks like it was cut to splice into
