someone asked a similar question to this before, I had a 1997 328i 5sp as my first car, its was slowwwwww you should murder it. As far as BMW's being so good,, haha i will never have one again. This thing was very unreliable and the computer would mess up all the time and everything would read out in german......My dad now has a BMW m3 and for the money, i dont think it is all it is hyped up to be....after owning that POS 328i i will never buy a BMW again

I dunno man. I had a 1999 M3, and loved it. It was pretty quick, and handled 100 times better than anything else I'd ever driven. What year is your dad's M3?

Here's a pic of mine...

My dad's is a 2003 M3. I think he got it for 35k brand new, dont get me wrong, its nice, but for the money I would much rather have an 03-04 Cobra, but to each his own. He has had a lot of problems with it, especially in the electrical system just like i had in my 328i, like i said i would never buy a BMW after seeing this...(he also has an X5 BMW and i am not a big fan of that thing eiether) a lot of problems and its expensive to fix anything on those

My moms is a 98 328i vert. That car has had nothing but problems, I would never own one. The top comes unstrug, it is on the 4th trunk latch, the computer does not work, the thermostat does not work, it has days when it just won't start. The thing that gets me is that it only has 54k miles.
