Um.. well... that depends on the year of the coupe. EG coupes are something like 2300-2500 lbs depending on the trim, EK coupes are 2400-2600 lbs.

But that 80 lbs, extra 10 hp and 12 ft lbs will go a lot further. If it was an EG coupe (EX), he just gained at the least 45 extra horses.

my brothers old civic coupe would pull high 12's on a 75 with stickies. All mods were 95 JDM gsr, stock lsd tranny, catback exhaust, & VAFC.

most Civics have a SOHC motor. B series(DOHC) weigh roughly the same. swapping in a DOHC in a Civic will add a very small amount of weight, but have more power and a lot more potential. the biggest weight differences are the various Honda chassis'.

So wouldnt modding a GSR be more effective/ cheaper in the long run, than swapping it into a coupe of almost the same weight.

no. an EG('92-'95)/EK('96-'00) coupe is cheaper than a GSR 2, or 4-dr car('94-'01). just cuz of those 3 letters. get a base coupe, throw the gsr in it, and voila. id rather have the coupe.

plus, HASPORT has engine mounts/wiring harnesses and stuff to make the swaps EASY. a baby could probably do it. they mostly bolt right in. with just a motor mount kit and a pre-made wiring harness. no biggie. i have friends doing complete swaps in one day...IF THAT LONG.

I like the GSR body too. I just thought the swaps were meant for the 1700lb hatches. BTW dot the GSr engines cost a bit too

theyre nice cars, dont get me wrong, but, id rather have a Civic. i just think they can be made to look better with kits and stuff on them. SUBTLE kits.

you can get a full GSR swap(engine, tranny, ecu, axles, etc, etc) usually for like $2800-$3500 COMPLETE depending on what year you get. minus the motor mounts and a few odds n ends. and thats from HMotorsOnline...probably the MOST respected jdm honda/acura engine importer to the US. ive never heard anything bad about them.

civics/integras/accords/preludes.........damn near everything is swappable with a motor mount kit and a wiring harness. my friend has a '97 EX Civic coupe with an H22 dohc vtec engine, running an Accord 5-spd tranny(b/c of longer gear ratios over the H22 tranny). his car is FAST. itd wax my car any day of the week....from a roll anyway. from a light, now, id kill him but thats why so many like Honda/Acura. easy to work on, parts are EVERYWHERE if you need them, and theyre reliable.
