1st time advice
Don't wanna sound stupid but I neeed some Hints/advice. Im going to test and tune at the local track on the 15th for the 1st time with my '03 GT. It' stock with a JLT RAI, SLP LM1 Cat Back, MGW shifter and 245-45-17s all round. Some are telling me to launch at 2500-3000 RPM and just let the tires spin until they get traction and others tell me to launch at 4500-5000 RPM and feather the clutch until the tires catch traction. Which is correct and what's going to be the least destructive on my drivetrain?
Also I hear that the shift point on my 03 is about 5600 rpm, is that the most efficeint rpm to shift? Thanks to anyone with some suggestions.

as for launching, you will have to play around to see at what point you can launch without completely roasting the tires, but if you come out too soft, and bog/stall it, you will really be screwed...
when compared to bogging or stalling, yes, spinning down the track is better because you are at least moving, but your best bet is to find the right amount of slip of the clutch and spin of the tires to get you off the line the quickest..
as for the ideal shift point, i have no idea...sorry.

how long have you had your stang??? And haven't you raced anyone on the street from a red light? I would assume it would be very similar to that. It took me a while to get my launching down on my car too, but i don't drive it often and I drive a crappy cavalier(auto) when i'm not driving the stang, plus its my first V8. Just practice up and down your street or some other spot were you can.
