this is true of a stock gt, however once tuned they do respond to higher octane if tuned for it. I have a custom tune for 93 octane, so I therefore go faster than on the 87 octane. But stock I agree with you, and hurting my wallet I agree with you. The only saving grace is that its only a 14 gal tank and I don't drive her every day. Well at least not for work.

I don't know why but I have taken out a couple of C5s from stops. Last time at the track a stock C5M6 ran 13.6@105 all night with 2.1 60fts.
What? So they weight less than an f-body, plus they have better weight distribution (more over the rear), and they run the same or slower?

Perhaps those rich old farts can't drive their Vettes properly?

I have seen a stock C5 vette hit a 12.9 @ 108. Its all in the driver. But no, a vette is faster than an f body stock for stock.

I know that they are supposed to be I just said that I don't see it happen. Typically at the track the C5 vettes are not hard to beat. I am sure that is it driver error. I just said that typically beating an F-body is much harder than beating a C5 vette at the strip.

I guess you also gotta take into consideration that f-bodies are more likely to be modded.

Vette's don't seem to launch too well, stock, they suffer from some pretty nasty wheel hop because of the IRS while the F-bods remained solid axle. Its alot easier, in my experience anyways, to launch an F-body than it is to launch a C5..

Am I mistaken, or are the Corvette Z06's all equipped with IRS? Their 1/4 mile times don't seem to be suffering much from it.

The IRS in the Vette's seem to be MUCH better than the IRS on the Goats or the Cobra's. I'm not really sure, but they all seem to get out of the hole just fine compared to the GTslOw and Slowbra.
