Default Corvette Question

So I know that the ZO6 is stupid fast, but are all new vettes as wicked fast? For instance could I take a 2000+ stock vette? Or should I stay clear?

You may wanna steer clear of a C5 until you get some more mods.

I'd say a gear swap away... In a 2003 Mach 1 w/3.73, Diablo chip and exhaust - ive been in the car and beat an auto C5 with that setup... the 3v's are what a half step slower then the 03/04 Mach 1's?? The C5 Vettes have 350hp (ls1) and the Z06 has about 405hp... and they're light as they've ever been.. and the new C6 (NON ZO6) pushes out 400hp.. so they're worth the 40+k they were when they were brand new... Those 3V have great response to mods...

you will get your *** busted by a stock C5 unless the driver is legally handicapped.

I suggest mod more then come correct.

13.5 will not get the job done, but if the Vette is a 2.73-geared auto then you might make it respectable. It's basically my car with less weight. I ran 13.5 stock, so the Vette would be faster.
A 6-speed will walk you.

I am thinking his 13.5 track time - could've been a lil bit faster - if he launched well, that's why I said if he gets strong gears he might be able to - going on that assumption... he said that he had bad traction... Claytone.. what was your 60"?

Like everyone's been saying, you'll want a bit more mods to feel comfortable with an LS1 Vette (if there's any number other than "1" after the "LS", then you'll need a LOT more mods )

You'll want a 13 flat to run with a 6spd on the track. You'll need a trap of over 105 to play with that same vette on a highway roll.

I forget what my 60' was exaclty, it was over 2 though, so needs improvement, however, I trapped around 106-107 every run I made. My biggest problem was getting the traction off the line. For some reason though I can do it fine on the street, just at the track I sit and spin. Dunno, might be in my head. But my setup is supposed to be good for 13-low 13's. As that 13.5 was running on 87 octane with a ****ty 60'. I am now on 93 octane, and have gotten better at launching. Thanks for the input thoughh guys.

The 05-06 Mustangs are made to run on 87 octane. 93 octane will only affect your wallet, not your ET.

I have seen many stock c5 vettes run and most of them run md 13s at 105ish. In my track experiences the F-bodies put up much better times. I don't know why but I have taken out a couple of C5s from stops. Last time at the track a stock C5M6 ran 13.6@105 all night with 2.1 60fts. I had always heard they ran high 12s I just have not seen it. The C6s run deep into the 12s stock. I have seen a stock auto C6 go 12.53@110.

Tommy if he tuned for the 93 octane it will help.
