I'm not so sure I should perpetuate this argument you are starting. Apparently you dont know much about engines manufactured before you were born or you just dont know. FE blocks were the FIRST big blocks Ford made, all the way back to 352's. Okay if they arent big blocks are they small blocks? Because if you believe that you sure as hell havent ever worked on one let alone seen on inperson! the intakes alone are 100lbs. Yes the 385 is bigger and heavier but ask any Shelby owner what is a big block Shelby powered by and he will tell you an FE block. The 427 was most definitely a big block. Infact I know someone personaly who will set you straight.

He has a replica 427 Cobra he built. he is a machinist who owns a machine shop and does a multitude of race engines.

I know George Anderson personally. He did some machine work for me when I had my shop open. I wouldnt take an FE anywhere but to this guy. My Pontiacs went to another guy who knew more about them. Ol' George is an expert on the FE, call him or write and ask him if they are big block or small block. Just so you wont take my word for it, but someone who BUILDS them and is known NATIONALY for it in Cobra and FE circles.

So dont believe me but get educated before you look REALLY stupid, ok?

BTW I have raced his Cobra at our local 1/4 track In Kearny Nebraska when I still lived out there, I won. He was running low 12's at the time and both our cars were streetable and cruised regularly on the streets of Hastings Nebraska.

If you think thats middle of nowhere ponder this Hastings has a legit 8 second car. Its a blown 427 Chevy powered Model T. Yes its legal and registered, owned by a friend of mine. I know all the top dogs cause I was in the top ten back there.

I am sorry to tell you but they are not big blocks.

Why would you say such a thing?

It doesn't say smallblock next to the FE. They're just distinguishing between the FE and the 385.

I'll see your non-proof and raise you a book titled "How to Rebuild Big Block Ford Engines" that covers the FE and FT engines, not the 385's.

Martel Bros. seems to think that FE stuff belongs in the Ford Big Block section as well.

You want more?

http://www.uniquealuminumproducts.com/feford.htm

aluminum "big block" valve covers for the FE's.

I've got all day. So far google hasn't returned one source that says the FE are not big blocks.
