Default 5.slow?

So I'm driving along in my 86 dodge pickup and I hung a left down a side street, stood on the gas like normal, and looked to see a pair of headlights in my sideview mirror. huh? There aren't 2 lanes going this direction... what are they doing there?

Oh.

This guy's trying to pass me.

Buahahahaha.

He can't pass me.

Guy didn't even gain on me until I decided 60-ish was too fast for a 25mph zone.

Had I not shut it down, he would have found himself in a tree. Stupid moron. Suspension must have been the original stuff from the early 80's because it had more body roll than my Jetta.

Gee....the guy wanted to pass you. You took out a mid 80's dodge pickup. Congradu ****in lations. You are the man for having shown a 18 second vehicle that you are faster.

Reading comprehension: F-

I was in the "18-second vehicle". My 5.0 is a 91, and had I been in that the guy would have been eating my dust by the distant glow of my taillights.

The funny part is that my buddy and I were just talking a few moments earlier about how my truck is faster than a lot of cars out there.

Ther are quite a bit of fools out there in stock 5.0's making the rest of us look bad. I think the problem is they see all the 10sec. cars in MM&FF and assume with a few bolt ons that they have one also?

That there are. Judging by the sad shape that the suspension is in I'd say he doesn't have any mods, and he's probably got 200k miles on the stock block (or a cheapo longblock from years ago).

It just looked all kinds of tired.

Didn't you have a 2.5 RS scooby? What happened to it?

I got sort of tired of it as a daily driver. It was too loud inside, too much NVH due to the hardened motor, tranny, strut mounts, and the intake. I threw a bunch of money into trying to make it faster and it felt like a waste - I spent about $1500 on power mods and it was still kind of slow. if I had the money I would have kept it and done a turbo swap, but I didn't. So I got the Jetta... it's quiet. Stock for stock it's faster, then throw in the $500 for the chip flash and it's a lot faster. I miss the AWD and I miss the handling, but this does ok.
Oh, and I'm getting an average of about 6mpg better.
