I was cruising with my gf in my stock 83 gt 5.0 with a carb issue rolling at say 40 and an evo8 rolls up next to me, drop to second and gave it at the same time. he pulled about a car at the top of second and i shut down (actually i missed 3rd and stopped haha). I got my new carb with 351 injectors on the 600 cfm and tuned correctly and headers on the way heh. Fun times

 

Those evos are pretty quick even stock. Isn't it like close to 280hp stock? You had fun? I guess thats all that counts!

I was there, I also did better than I expected from a roll with my SHO, but that's where they shine. The guy who was driving the EVO looked like he was 12, maybe 13. A newer stock GT would take an EVO from a roll.

Have you ever driven an EVO? All they have is 1st gear. From a roll they basically suck for a 280hp car. The awd is a handicap anything over 10mph.

Yes...Force4's. I realize that all it has is a little torque off the line, but the EVO sucks from a roll-it's that simple. The EVO barely pulls on my 14.9 second SHO from a 40mph roll, but that's probably because of the cams I have in it.

 

Um... I wouldn't necessarily say that. The GT might pull on him at higher speeds unless you start from a 60 roll... but a GT would get slaughtered by one from downlow or a dig.

 

The trap speed of a stock Evo 8 is around 96 or 97. Compare that to the trap of a 99-04 GT of 98mph and 102-104 for a new GT. But I'm not talking about a 10mph roll, more like a 40 or 50. The Mustang should win.
