Why does some idiot always want to start crap with me on the road? Does this happen to you guys too?

I was driving home from work, cruising 60 in a 55 and some a$swipe in a F-250 was tailgating me really bad with his lights blinding me when it was still daylight outside. I got pissed so at the next light, I accelerated fast and left him way behind. So I start cruising again and this guy catches up with me and tailgates me again. Now I'm real pissed cuz I know he's doing it on purpose. I sped up to 80 in a 55mph limit area, and he was STILL tailgating me. So I'm looking in my rear view and he is coming up on me and looks like he wants to pass me. So right before he is about to swing in the other lane, I drop it in 3rd and floor it. I left him in the dust and went up to 120mph, then started driving 80 the rest of the way home.

 

Be careful, you don't want a ticket because somebody was being a 'tard. I have a similar story: My buddy and I were coming back from town on a highway 17 (two lane where we're at) and this guy in a F150 is also tailgating us. Well, we get to his house (just off the highway) and he slows down to a near stop and goes in, real, real slow. So the guy honks at us and throws his hands up, then starts accelerating. Well, my buddy immediately wheeled his car around in his neighbors yard, got back on the highway, passed the three cars between us and the F150 (which wasn't even back up to the speed limit yet) and passed him doin' about 110. We get in his lane brake really hard to about 20 mph and go that fast for about a mile down the road, while giving him the finger. When we turned off, he looked kinda scared.

 

If I get an idiot on my tail? I merge into another lane & ignore them. They honk or yell; I look but usually end up looking back straight ahead if it has anything to do with racing. I've learned to save it for the track. Keep in mind that jerks on the road are the norm these days & let the cop's nail them for thier stupidity; not you 'cause the jerk got under your skin......

What does it hurt if someone tailgates? If they hit you, it likely won't be that hard, since they're already so close, and it's gonna be their fault. I've never EVER understood that logic.

 

Where I live theres a hotline for roadrage drivers. I think my story takes the cake for being tailgated. I was cruising in my 79 stang 5.0. Its rainging out and all of my windows except the windsheild are fogged up. Some car gets right up on my *** and stays there, so being a curtious driver I get over and think hes going to pass, he follows me to the other lane. So I get back over, he follows, then i get back into the right lane he still follows me. So Im gettin pissed because hes definitly WAY too close for comfort in the rain, I drop it down to second and romp on it leave em in the dust...wouldnt ya know it its a damn cop. Long story short I get a 10 over ticket and nice fat fine. What a bastard. Needless to say that cop got fired.

Hey I live one county up from the country's worst drivers, Miami. There are so many stories I could tell you guys about retarded drivers down here. The sh*t head tourist that cut me off and was damn lucky I had good brakes. The woman who ran a red light and scraped the front bumper on my 2000 GT. Damn lucky she wasn't one lane over otherwise she would have t-boned me in the drivers side. Oh she claimed she had a green light. [8D] The people who annoy me the most are those who drive in your blind spot or back and to the left just enough to make their headlight reflect off my side view mirror into my eyes. [:@] I drive to Tampa a couple times a month and deal with that sort of crap. Last time it was an Escalade that couldn't make up his/her mind as to how fast they wanted to go. Did 140 for a little bit and never saw them again.

 

You nailed it in the rain? And you were worried about the guy BEHIND you?

 

he was pacing you. they like the get right up on you to try and provoke you to speed up or do a hard brake check. oh, and to see how fast you're really going of course.

 

In my case, this was on a 1 lane highway for each side. I was NOT about to pull over in the grass and gravel for his ignorance. Especially because he was doing this on purpose.
