hey dude my friend has a 98 deville with the V8 northstar and we were going to race just to see who would win (i have a stock 97 v6) even though i figured he would because i've taken a ride when hes floored it
the northstar V8 Caddie comes with 300 Hp and 1/4 mile time of 15 something and mine is 17 something so ya....
i dont know about all the years that they made the northstars, but im pretty sure they had like 240 hp or somethin around that
Im a Caddy guy so I'll speak on this one.. The Northstars came out in 1992. They come with 2 different styles. The 4.7L has 275hp and the 4.6 has 300.(yes the smaller engine is more powerful) They are very smooth engines. The problem is, the are very heavy and the gearing is no where near sports tuned. All Northstars up untill 2005 are FWD. I had a 1996 Eldorado and a 2000 Deville. There is one way to tell which one has a 275hp or a 300hp motor and thats the emblem on the back of the car. For example.. A Seville that says "SLS' or "SHS" has the 275hp motor. A Seville that has STS or a Deville that says DTS has the 300hp motor. The 275hp motor has more low end torque but the 300hp has better gearing. Most of them do the 1/4 in 15secs or so.
