Shelby GT500 in R&T!
Finaly a full road test, numbers, specs, etc that are in writing from a rag. I'll post htis in here and OT since a LOT of you guys never venture into OT.
the numbers
500hp@6000RPM /480trq@4500RPM.
curb weight: 3950 coupe
0-60: 4.7
1320: 13.1@112.2 (they CANNOT drive this beast it seems.. even said they had to get off it to grip)
top speed: 150 electronicaly limited
skidpad .87g
Transmission: TR-6060 6 cog triple synchro.
Rear: 3 link 8.8 rear
As far as the motor goes, it shares the same heads as the ford GT, but is a completely different setup. Wetsump system off the Mustang GT is used, and almost all parts are GT500 specific.
They are stating a three year run of 8000-10000 units each year... not exactly rare car territory like the Cobra R's..
Overall... I'm really not that impressed from the numbers.. I know they had lots of launch issues.. and I am sure its capable of much better times.. but usualy you can count on average drivers running about what the rag's run.... ouch.

Thanks 4 the post. I never trust the judgement of those car magazine guys when it comes to performance times. They spend about 2 minutes with the car then they launch it and post their best times. A good driver or a adverage driver who spends some quality time with the car should do much better.

The thing about htis article is they even admited they had to back off to grip... sounds like they had no idea how to launch the car.. either that or street tires and drag strip are two words that should never be said together in one of these.
