technically, all combustion engines have elevation problems...

fuel injection is a pain in the ***..if the bmw has a hesitation or a miss, i have to go through a sequence of checkpoints like plugs and such, and i end up hooking it up to a computer to figure out what is wrong..to run high 15s...

on the other hand, the white car is carbed, and if is misses or something, we can take it apart at the track and fix it, no questions asked...worst case scenario, my ignition is bad, and thats as "electronic" as it gets on that car.

carb engines are easier to deal with as a whole, and there are less components to change to adapt to performance mods. if im too lean in the white car,i can change my jets in 5 minutes, but i bet that alot of people here dont know what "jets" are...
bah i dunno about that.

There's just something about being able to download a tune and then never screw with it again.
no offense, but i dont agree with that at all...with the misinformation and BS that i see online, and considering some of the retards that ive seen working at performance shops, i would much rather be able to alter how my car runs on my own. say that you get to a racing event in the middle of no where....and your car isnt running right...ive seen a guy with a low 12 second STi who had moved from florida to pittsburgh dick around all night trying to get his car running right...i can alter how my car is running in an hour, tops...

and let me add that by no means am i saying that i am any sort of end-all of tuning of any type of car, but anything that removes the computer control gives you a much better look and feel for what is going on. alot of guys with heavily built FI car rely so heavily on their laptop...and if something goes wrong, youre screwed...for me to be screwed at the track, i have to break something, and unless its major/internal, i usualy wont miss more than one run at a national event.
