Who will win
Whaaaat? Who manually shifts an auto? The computer controls all the shifting....hence, the automatic. Maybe if you have a manual valve body....but I doubt you do. Just let the computer shift for you.
When my car was auto, I could start in 1st gear, then shift to 2nd at 5k rpms, but as long as I was wide open throttle, the computer shifted the car when it was supposed to, I had no effect on the shifting. Unless I downshifted the car at a higher speed, which doesn't allow the car to build line pressure, which is super bad for an auto.
In other words, DON'T shift your auto!

Now I'm being told than an auto shifts faster by manually shifting it....the hystericalness, is that even a word, never ends.
Trust me you wouldn't be the only one to make up a word here, but yeah the car does perform better when you feel the motor and shift it yourself. so what is the LS1?

You guys don't understand.....an automatic shifts at a set point, no matter what. If you're WOT and shift the car at 5k, it's gonna shift at whatever the shift point is determined to be in the computer. If you hold it in 1st, it's gonna bounce off the limiter, then pause, and then shift AFTER you've already moved the shifter. This is one of the reason handheld programmers/tuners are so sought after. You can actually change your shift mph/rpm/firmness/etc....you shifting the car manually most likely slows it down rather than speed it up.
My car was an automatic and has been swapped for a proshifted 4 speed manual tranny. I had a programmer on mine, as well as increased line pressure, as well as a large stall. Me shifting the car did absolutely no good, it is actually bad for the tranny.
