Cobra vs. talon
I Have a firend with a 1991 talon tsi awd going up against this kid with a 1995 cobra. The 1991 talon tsi has 300awhp and the 1995 cobra has 4.30 gears, an o/r h-pipe, and a holly systemax kit. The race was supposed to happen last nite but the kid with the cobra postponed it untill tomarrow because he is putting on the systemax kit. So the race is now tomarrow nite. I was wondering who you think will win, the talon or the cobra. Both are good drives but the guy with the talon is a better driver. At first i thought the cobra is going to walk the talon since he is puttin the systemax kit on his cobra but taking his gear into consideration they are really steep so he would be shifting like crazy..I know that before the systemax kit the talon would have walked away from the cobra by an easy 6 cars but now i got no idea. What do you all think..??
I think your buddy needs to put some 3.73's or 3.55's back in his Cobra. I think he's going to spin his tires a lot. Power levels I'd guess would be similar, HP wise, not sure on torque. but the talon has awd so he'll get the launch bigtime.
My guess is the Talon will win. If he is just getting new heads and cam in there, its gonna have some teething problems and not be sorted out. Its not a bolt on deal it takes a bit of effort to swap an entire top end and get it runnin again, well runnin right anyway. I agree the 4.30's are way too much, where does he live? In the South where they spray it and run so much gear it has a top speed of 100 mph at 8500 rpm?
how's it goin guys? I have the talon. It's probably around 300whp or so on pumpgas. I just wanted to ask what the systemax kit is, because i know dick about mustangs. lemme know what you think my chances are? yes, the car is AWD, and i can launch it like no tomorrow, so I know i'll hook. i wanna hear input. thanks.

I think the talon will jump pretty well off the line but eventually the cobra will come get him on top...depends on how far/fast they get up to really.
0-60 and 1/4 mile I think the Talon will get him, anything higher than 100 mph and the Cobra will make a comeback. From a roll though I think it'll be way way more even, if not worse for the TSi.
That's just a GUESS because of the AWD on the TSi... AWD=launch happy.

well the holley system max is a set of parts from Holley is makes 350 HP on a stock 5.0 . Should be good for at least 300 rwhp on the cobra . He wont make that much power if he doesnt have the bigger TB and MM and injectors to go with the setup. Well the Talon is lighter and should win but the TQ from the stang might help later on in the revs if he can drive . I think it should be close at the end of the 1/4 but who knows if i had money on it and all facts were in i say Talon. But does your car really have 300 awhp? Have you did a dyno? Or are you guessing?

What are the mods on the talon? I have seen plently of talon vids with new turbos etc running only door to door (not pulling) on guys running not much faster than 14s.
Are you estimating 300 HP at the wheels, or are you pretty sure? A 300 horse talon should be really dammed quick, as light as it is with AWD.
