hmmm... Looking at that 01 lightning it is saying it runs the 1/4 mile at 13.9

Are they that much slower than the newer ones?

I've seen mustangs with exhaust run that. If you can drive your car, theres a good possibility you can beat him from a dig.

I also think it will be a good race. Do you think flowmasters, air silencer removed, k&n cone filter, and off-road h-pipe will work? Maybe a short throw shifter too?

My car is manual.

I beat a 99' with those mods, but replace the H with an X.

How bad did you beat him by? He was supercharged right?

Like 2 cars. We only raced to 80 due to traffic.. It was from a dig, and 1st gear roll. From what I could tell he wasnt really starting to pull yet.

What gears were you in when you pulled away from him, or was it the start?

I have an 02' GT with Flowmasters and Eibach springs. My friend has an 01' Lightning with Flowmasters. We are planning on racing sometime. I'm going to need a few more bolt-ons to beat him. Nitrous is not an option though. Gears will probably be my first choice. Also I will remove the air silencer and get a K&N cone filter. What else should I get to outrun his truck? I also need lots of practice driving because I've only been driving a straight drive for a couple of months.

He's going get you from a dig or a roll if all your going to get are gears and K&N. You need way more then that to beat them. They heavy trucks but are very quick. When I had my LS1 WS6 M6 I got beat by one not to bad. He beat me by half a truck and could get passed that point. He had a K&N and Exhaust I just had a Lid and a K&N.

The one I raced was supercharged. I don't know what years came with them or didn't come with it. If he does have one though he going to get you with the mods you going to get.

Lightnings are quick, but if you're a great driver, you should be able to take him, now it will be close, but it's not like it's going to be a blow out.
