Default Ok WTF am I doing wrong.

Went to the track today.94 degrees and 100% humidity. I must have ran 12 times in four hours 3per.With all the Mods to my car the best I could get out of it was 13.7 and consistantly 13.8.Beat a couple of T.A's Beat my friends 05 Gt Vert. by 4 lengths. But lost to a Charger 6.4 his time slip is attatched to the link. Why Am I not getting better times with all these mods?I'm car 204 The Srt ran a 13.2 STOCK He put 50 psi in the front tires and 20 in the back.Iced engine inbetween races also took out practically everything in his car.Spair etc.I just want to know what my car can do on a regular basis. If a Vette pulls up next to me at a light I'm pretty sure I wont have time to remove all that stuff before we run.

1.) High temperatures and high humidity eat horsepower like you wouldn't believe! You could probably run 13.4's-13.5's or even better in 60 degree weather and 50% humidity. Weather is a HUGE factor!

2.)Altitude is also a factor. If you are at higher altitudes you will need to correct your times if you want to compare them to times posted by others at lower altitudes.

3.) You have a convertible. Convertibles are heavier and slower than coupes.

4.) Do you have an automatic? If so, you're going to run a few tenths slower than a 5spd.

5.)You really don't have that many performance mods to begin with.

6.)You can gain some time by icing the manifold, removing the spare, etc. but , just like you, I prefer to get my times in "Street" trim. However, you should realize that a lot of people use these tricks at the dragstrip to gain a few tenths and by not using them your times are going to be just a bit slower...

7.)Keep Practicing and Good Luck!

Nice times. I would venture to say that with your mods listed you are probably making around 280 whp. A 13.8 run in a mustang is not bad considering you ran in 94 degrees and 100 percent humidity.

I have seen a 4 tenths difference due to weather conditions. In April 2004, I ran 13.3-13.6. In July, 13.7-13.9. No changes at all except for about a 40* heat difference.

C&L CAI.......$400.00
SCT EXCAL 93 OCT Tune........$400.00
4.10 Gears......$500.00
U.D Pulleys......$350.00
Flowmaster mufflers....$300.00

Getting Walked by a Stock Hemi...........SUCKS

I thought the GT was around 13.5 1/4 Stock 300 hp at the crank.
How come $2000.00 later I can't get times like that? You seen my car I know int needs performance tires but do you think lowering it would help? Ithought for sure the times people on here were posting with their mods I could atleast be around 13ish if not break 12.99.Besides ripping it all apart at putting a super charger on it "What else can I do"

I almost pasitive you will not get walked by stock hemi's. My freind ran his stock hemi and the best he could do was 15.4. Unless you talking about single cab but, that still hard to believe.

Ok here this may help:

1. Our cars are 300hp to the crank, which for an auto means about 263 to the wheels and 5spd is about 273.

2. A stock GT, coupe, 5spd, will run anywhere from 13.6-bleh depending on the driver. I have never heard nor seen a stock GT go faster
than a 13.6

3. With the mods you have you are not really adding very much hp, maybe 8-10 with the pulleys, and 20-25 with the CAI depending on
temp/humidity.

4. You do have a convertible which is goin to be heavier than a coupe

5. Depening on where you got your tune from, I have seen autos be a mere tenth slower than a 5spd, if not in most cases due to driver
error, actually faster than 5spds at the track.

6. Finally, while your 60ft. is not that bad, it could be improved. Get some Lower control arms, and a stall converter( if you are auto), that will really help.

I do have a 5 speed manual. And the Charger was a four door.Like I said before he was running on less than 1/4 tank of gas and removed pretty much all he couls tires etc.Myself on the other hand had 3/4 of a tank of gas.The tune was done by a reputiable tech here in a Detroit suburb. He said the last time to the track he was pulling 13.5 at 75 degrees. And he also mentioned he ran even with another Mustang and usually starts to slow a little towards the end of the 1/4.I had him at the 1/8th but he reeled me in and pulled 3 or 4 cars by the end of the run.I really wonder if A my 4.10's are hurting more than helping or B the tech never Re Flashed my car after he added the gears and pulleys. But my speedometer isn't off.If it wasn't retuned I think it would be off a bit with those gears.
