An LS1 killer yes, An LS2 killer in a GTO yes. An LS2 in a Corvette no, and definately not an LS6 or LS7.

 

I would not be the least bit surprised if the new GT500 ran a C6 up to 155. But I wouldnt be surprised if a C6 trounced a GT500 What QM times are the C6s running anyways? Isnt it like 12.4 or 12.5 on average? And I know that Evan Smith isn't your average driver, so nobody try and bring up his QM times in MM&FF like anyone can get in a GT500 or Vette and run low twelves. I am excited about these things though. Beautiful cars IMO.

 

the average is like 12.70 from what I have see at a few tracks. Alot in the 13.00 range. C6 killer yes C6 z06 maybe not. Did you read the new Mustang and Fast Ford mag. 12.25@117. I have never seen, heard, or read of any C6 non z06 going that fast. Most with exhaust in lid's only gon 12.20's but with more mph

 

Cliff, A GT500 and a C6 are about even in a QM. I will give a Vette the edge on top end and handling.
The GT 500 is an awesome car but it is not worth $68K as someone mentioned in this thread. Thats too much for a Mustang whether it has Shelby's name or not.

Dont even quote about what you have read MM & FF. Is'nt this the same mag that ran a stock Terminator to a 12.4. I have never seen anyone run one close to that. Look on the Corvette forum and the fastest someone ran a C6 so far is a 12.2 (that 12.2 is an isolated inncident just as the 12.2 on the GT500 ran by Evan). I am not saying a C6 is faster than a GT500 in a QM (they are both mid 12sec cars in capable hands) but after the QM the C6 will outperform top end and the twisties hands down. Neither of these cars are going to kill each other in the 1/4, It will be a drivers race...........

 

I agree. I would also imagine that the torque curve on the C6 due to it's *displacement* would be favorable in a open road race. However stop light to stop light it's all about the launch. These cars are equal in that aspect. However at high speeds the C6 will be able to exploit the Shelby...

1. C6 maybe ..C6 Z06 definantely not.
2. My stock C5 Z06 ran 12.08 in the 1/4. A C6 with the Z51 package should give the Shelby a run for their money...

 

Not if it's driven by Motor Trend that's for sure....
