13.8 walking it out and not spinning the tires, short shifting and having a bunch of crap in the car, yes it can happen. LS1 or not.

 

it's just the truth being told finally. not everyone is a great driver. good to see that realistic times can get posted sometimes. i hate bench racing. i do know a few people with 12 second cars that run 14.1 or so. but they still brag to no end. good luck on the 13 second chase.

 

The track is where to find realistic times. I ran one of the best times stock with all the interior and half a tank of gas from a gt so far from what I have seen in my area. 14.6's is not uncomon. I've cut 2.0 60ft times too on stock goodyears. I think the whole these people can't drive is not true. I see these times with many other people who own the same stock cars. I was happy for the person in the evo because it was the first stock one I've ever seen break a 14.0 Best I seen from a stock Cobra R mustang is 13.2's. Yes it's real and yes he know how to drive it. He's been going down for at least two years to tri-state over here in Ohio.


GTO was at the track and ran a 14.09 at 100.29mph.
Neons srt-4 can run 14.0-13.9 stock at 100-101 mph(this one of the only factory little tuners to prove to me that they run quick stock).

that is why people cant say "i can beat any of "this type" of car. i know i can beat many stock 03 cobras, but not all. someone somewhere has seen a car run faster or slower than a mag says. i dont doubt that an import mag got a ringer sti when they ran 12.76 bone stock. but that is what most companies do. i dont go around saying an sti can pull a 12.76 though. what i see at the track is 13.3's. and i did see the 12.76 video.

My buddy argued and told me I was f'ing stupid believing an LS1 Z28/TA could run 12.8-12.9 stock, until he got his own 2002 Z28 and ran 13.09@108 with a f'ing 2.1 60 foot...

 

the mcmullen-argus group magazines (turbo, sport compact car, import tuner) got a hold of one of the first 1000 sti's. they ran it on super tuner saturday on tnt or spike tv. it was discovered that the first 1000 or so sti's pinged from the factory due to the timing and boost being higher than expected. they also ran faster. the new ones arent quite as fast.

 

When i go to the track i get all differnt times . Sometimes i miss shift or get wheel hop or just get excited and spin the tires but my best times yet is what i ran last night and that be 14.02@99.55 mph. Stock 88 LX mustang.See when people give mag times it usally means a professional driver a rented track and 20 plus runs and a team of guys there to tune it to help get maxium speed out of the car.Also they arent to worried about breaking the car cause they drove a ford 5.0 to the track to get back home in .LOL hehhe .
