Hellz NO!
The closest i come to street racin is a few revs at the light and a noisy take off... i dont follow through, but love watchin the other driver race like his life depended on it.... he prolly then comes back an posts on a forum how he shut down a stang...

@bharsen: Imagine 2 equal cars and the same situation. He "won" in the end, but does he have an excuse for letting the Geezer get the jump on him? Not really... Therefore he ain't getting props from me, at one point the old guy had 2 cars on him... 2 cars... From a dig that's a lot...

Okay, being in that lane when there is no car present is plain stupid, but I am guessing that G6 was already there. I do LOVE to play people when I am in the inside lane in such a situation, just like the old geezer, but I got reasonable equipment to do so.
But you are acting cool and getting props while in reality some old geezer just handed your *** to you off the line... If he were in a faster car you would have gotten owned. You didn't win... you got lucky... But that is just my opinion. I hope your reaction time was just really bad because something distracted you.

First off I didn't really expect to have the guy try to race me. I figured the guy had to know that he had no shot to beat me. I often get people who inch up at light because they somehow feel it will make the light change quicker.
Secondly, I was talking to my girl when the light turned green and if not in race mode, I usually hesitate before proceeding. People around where I live believe that when a light turns red you still have 2 seconds to go through it. I'm not really looking to get T-boned.
Third, once I saw that he was in fact trying to keep me from merging in front of him, it took almost no effort to blow by him.
So the outcome was never in doubt and I was hardly in "race mode" anyway.
I gave him a head start and then once I determined he was actually challenging me, I spanked him like a red headed stepchild.
Perhaps that clears it up for you.

So I see this guy inching forward anticipating the light change, and my first thought is Hellz no is this guy gonna try to run me.

You should have used other words in your starting post, because that thought screams "mesa in race mode" to me...

Maybe I should have given you a play by play of every single thought that went through my head so there would be no confusion.
My first thought was " Hellz no, this guy is not gonna try to run me"
That thought was quickly replaced by " Naa, he's just impatient at the light."
Then I thought, " man I shouldn't have had those nachos earlier"
Then I thought, " Wow the weather is really nice today"
Then my girl said something to me about a friend of hers at work, not sure what cause I wasn't really listening. I reached for the radio, turned it down and said "Huh, what did you say?"
As I was looking her direction the light changed and I see out of my perhiph, that the old guy had gunned it.
My thought then was "Oh no he did not just try to take me"
At this point he had a couple seconds jump on me.
Then I proceeded to leave him in my rearview.
Did that help clear it up for you.
I get the impression that you are itching to find fault with this particular incident.
Let's see.....
I was handed my *** by an old man in a G6.
I was really in race mode when I stated I wasn't.
I let him get 2 cars on me from a dig.
Yeah sh*t happens and if I had been actually paying attention, I would have never bothered posting about this incident.
It would have been over the instant the light turned green. The guy never had a prayer.
I just thought it was humorous because of the way it unfolded.
don't let him/her bother you dude... I actually think better of you car that it can make ground on a head start like that... and if it was me behind the wheel I would let him keep going for about 1 or 2 more seconds before I gunned it just to make his idiocy all the more apparent

i love when people try and do that crap. my favorite was some douche in a bmw 325i. he even squealed his tires so i couldn't merge in front of him. he wouldn't pull even with me at any other lights, nor did he really try to pass me again.
