Hellz NO!
So yesterday I pull up to a redlight. I am in the curb lane and next to me on the inside lane is a new Pontiac G6. The driver is at least 60.
The lane I am in merges into the other about 100-150 yards up the road.
So I see this guy inching forward anticipating the light change, and my first thought is Hellz no is this guy gonna try to run me.
So the light changes and he guns it.
He instantly has about a car on me, of course I hadn't taken off yet.
So I finally hit the gas and he now has about 2 cars on me.
I hit 2nd and blow by him like he's standing still.
Once I hit 3rd, I look in my mirror and he is about 10 lengths behind me and falling farther back.
I figure he must have gave up and tucked his tail between his legs.[sm=owned.gif]
I give him props for the effort though.

idk, i think maybe he was just playing that old timers game of "your in
the wrong lane and i'm gonna make sure you know it" routine....
i'm glad you put the old timer in his place......your rearview mirror!

i had an old guy around the same age do that to me too, but he was driving a 2005 altima se-r nice looking car. He took off before i noticed and i said "nope and took him till i hit third and i was about 2 or 3 lengths ahead of him. Nice grandpa kill!!!

Okay, being in that lane when there is no car present is plain stupid, but I am guessing that G6 was already there. I do LOVE to play people when I am in the inside lane in such a situation, just like the old geezer, but I got reasonable equipment to do so.
But you are acting cool and getting props while in reality some old geezer just handed your *** to you off the line... If he were in a faster car you would have gotten owned. You didn't win... you got lucky... But that is just my opinion. I hope your reaction time was just really bad because something distracted you.
