Could you elaborate on this? How should one's technique change with a turbo'd car?

 

whatever he means, it has nothing to do with acceleration. he HAS to be speaking about racing, and therefore launch/shift techniques, which are null and void when talking about powerband, especially in an auto.

 

Racing in a turbo 4 is exactly the same as in a rear drive V8. Launch hard enough not to break traction and shift when your powerband starts to drop off! Only real difference is trying to launch a front driver is alittle harder.

 

you are definitely talking about the 2nd gen Eclipse('95-'99). RS-GS-GS-T-GSX, like DaMach said. the RS and GS. 2.0 n/a. not very fast, if at all. my friend had one. it was quick. it could beat a Civic, not mine, cuz he cant drive as good as me, but, others yes. the GS-T and GSX are BOTH turbo'd. GS-T-fwd turbo. GSX-awd turbo. like JD said, most of the GSX's drivers cant launch an awd, like most any other awd car. from a dig, if he can actually launch and not be afraid of it, the GSX would have the holeshot more than likely, but youd pull back around and beat him. GS-T, youll pull holeshot if u can drive and should hold it. altho, i forgot u said he has exhaust and an air intake. exhaust wise, FULL exhaust, "axle"back, or just a muffler ?? if hes turbo'd, but the exhaust will help him out IMMENSELY. turbo cars do better with no backpressure. if thats the case, either way, youre probably toast. intake.....like our cars, dont make much of a difference unless you have a larger than stock tb too, to allow the more air to thru less of a restriction. if hes a GS/RS. no problems. GS-T or GSX. depending on how good of a driver he is, could go either way. if he sucks at driving, you should win by 1-2 cars. if he can drive, drivers race, depending on how much of an "exhaust" he has.

no guys hes not turbo at all. i know for sure because ive seen under the hood, he has a inline 4 w. an air intake, no turbo at all, maybe he just had badges on it, idk.. but i no its deff not a turbo car, no question in that.

 

then it is a 2nd gen GS, or 3rd gen.... es? i dont know what the 3rd gen intro model is. either way, u will rape him. those cars are game for v6 mustangs. you still havent clarified. does the car have a big hump on the drivers side of the hood (only, the 3rd gens have 2 small lumps on each side of the hood) or does it have 3 horizontal grooves that go along each side? hump = 2nd gen, grooves = 3rd gen.

 

Stock, the turbo is covered by heat shields, are you absolutely positive?

put it this way, my sis has a 99 eclipse gs and i put carlenghts on her with my nissan that ran a 15.4 stock. they are not that fast. the gs-t are good for about a high 14 low 15 stock. hope that helps
