Default Hot Rod with interesting engine

Ran across this hot rod at the big navoo car show this weekend. Almost all of the old rods, ford or not, were complete with the standard (BOOORRINNG) 350 small block, with eldebrock performer RPM heads, eldebrock performer RPM intake (low rise) and a holley carb. This guy acutally took some time and thought and did a interesting swap:

It's a tarus SHO engine and interior swap! I saw the interior first, and I was thinking WTF is that interior, I know its a ford interior..... then I saw the engine.

Entire thing was super clean, and it had a automatic ranger transmission backing it up with rebuilt internals. The guy said it acutally bolted right up. He also said it drove real well and acutally could handle pretty decent (unlike most hot rods with the overwieght V8 up front).

All in all I was impressed, if not by the power/speed (probably still pretty quick, lightwieght etc) but with the time and effort it took to do a custom job like this. One slick hotrod.

That's a pretty sweet looking hot rod with a nice unique idea.

Looks like a GEN2 SHO motor and seats with a GEN3 Taurus dash. Pretty cool.

Thats what I thought.

Alot of the people I talked to/heard talking about it were not very appreciative. Isn't that the entire point of a hot rod, to have something unique?

Seriously, 99.99 percent of the hot rods there (out of 200+) were 350s with eldebrock heads/intake (always performer RPM lol). There were of course a few BB/blower combos, but mostly just the 350s.

Seriously, who goes fast in a hot rod anyway? its not really about performance. I cannot imagine going wot for more than a second or two with a blown BB in a little hot rod. Talk about suicide....

The V6 was a better motor and alot more sought after.
