I met him on an Ecotecforum, he used to live in New Jersey, but recently moved to the Nashville area, which is about 45 minutes or so away from us and he wants to meet within the next few days and run em, but he is off until Saturday, but I dont have a day off until Sunday, but I will definately meet up with him whenever I go to Nashville again.

I remember a seeing one tested in a magazine and I think it ran a 14.0 at 101mph,so they are pretty decent on the top end.Still,you should beat him from a dig,since we all know how "hard" a FWD car can launch.

His first attempt was a 16.x @ 98mph (If I remember correctly)
His 2nd attempt was a 14.6 @ 99mph
He was just doing what everyone claims you can do with an automatic... he pulled up and just mashed the gas. Unfortunately even with all that weight the car was just spinning the tires down the track.
Maybe when he gets back from over there he can get some more practice.

depends on the cars weight distributio.... FWD cars do get some advantage from having the engine sit over the drive tires, helps a bit with traction off the line.
The real weakness with FWD is torque steer, where the car gets unpredictable under heavy acceleration...
Same power, and the SPyder is slower with the vert top. So if you are right, the coupe would be even faster...

the weightshift is gonna put the weight on the back tires, not the front, regardless of where the engine is

And the engine sitting over the front wheels does help quite a bit in that initial traction grap.

Ok guys i know this post is old but i just wanted to give you a little more information on the 06 Eclipse.
First i wanna say i am not bashing stangs at all. everybody has there thing.

i have a 2006 eclipse gt with AEM cai, HKS exhaust, Eibach drop. at the track this summer i ran 13.8 i know you guys wont believe me because i do not have the slip, left it in my pants and wife washed them.
i have taken 3 05 mustange GTs not by much worst was about 2.5 cars from dig to 100mph. everybody under estimates the new eclipse i did till i drove it the thing is fast well not fast but real quick.
if you guys have any questions or if you live in MN and dont believe me you can find me on UNI friday and SAT nights at foodsaver
