Ok guys i know this post is old but i just wanted to give you a little more information on the 06 Eclipse.
First i wanna say i am not bashing stangs at all. everybody has there thing.
ok
i have a 2006 eclipse gt with AEM cai, HKS exhaust, Eibach drop. at the track this summer i ran 13.8 i know you guys wont believe me because i do not have the slip, left it in my pants and wife washed them.
i have taken 3 05 mustange GTs not by much worst was about 2.5 cars from dig to 100mph. everybody under estimates the new eclipse i did till i drove it the thing is fast well not fast but real quick.

if you guys have any questions or if you live in MN and dont believe me you can find me on UNI friday and SAT nights at foodsaver

have fun and drive save.
I... for one.. believe you, I always have liked the newer bodies and the output of the little 3.8 comparing to the 4.6'ers

just the cars are hurt by bad drivers and when someone on this site gets a run with one... everyone and their mom thinks it's slow.... I always said they were nice little get up and go's for what they are

No one is saying they're slow per se (at least.....not me), but they are still at a torque disadvantage for what they weigh. And sorry, but FWD does not have any advantages over RWD when it comes to dead stop launching. Anyone who thinks otherwise has never been behind the wheel of a decent RWD car.

I know there are alot of fools driving new GT's that couldn't find their *** with both hands........but damn, I think I would have shot myself if I'd lost to an NA Eclipse when I was still stock. I think these ****-poor 3V drivers are the main reason I get so many slower model cars messin with me thinking I'm easy prey. It sucks[:'(]

well, if you read anything on this site, you'd see that 05+ stock GTs can run 13.6 all day with a handful dipping at 13.4. must have been driver error. the 06 eclipse is a quick car, just not quicker than the 05s.

This guy I know recently purchased an 06 Eclipse GT w/5spd and was saying how he was hopin for atleast a 14.5 in the 1/4 mile stock. I told him my automatic GT would barely run that, and I know I'm faster than he is. He said there have been guys on Streetfire to run 14.0 with a stock 06 Eclipse GT. Now I'm gonna call B.S. This car weighs about 200lbs more than the Stang, plus I have over 60lbs ft/tq on him. Have you guys seen any 14.0, or even faster than a 14.5 in a new Eclipse? I've read and heard they are between 14.6-14.8 stock, with the autos being a tad bit slower. What's the deal on this car, can you guys help me out? Oh yeah, he also said that FWD is better than RWD when it comes to racing, I told him launching a FWD car is alot harder than he thinks, and he used to have a Turbo'd Ecotec Sunfire, so you would think he would know.
Lol at quoting people from streetfire.

correct..and any LS1 car, even if its a manual transmission driven by a guy with only one leg, if good for 12s, stock, even driving UP the last quarter mile on everest.
