You know that the power mode on those just changes the shift points right? It doesn't give you any power. And the E-Shift is a waste of time. It doesn't shift any different or harder than if you just left it in D.

Yeah, power mode supposedly makes the throttle more sensitive (which the butt dyno has noticed) and makes the tranny upshift later and downshift earlier. Apparently the best results are seen with power mode on and traction control off. I actually wasn't aware that E-shift doesn't do much for performance because the transmission shifts so well in regular auto mode.

Hell its a Toyota its gunna be reliable even with a turbo on it . I like the IS's I wish they sold the Altezza's here in the states I probably would have gotten one. Just put about 8 lbs of air into it and it'll be even more fun and still be reliable.

So I was out today dropping off some of our marketing material at realtors throughout the area. It had been a long day of driving around in heavy traffic in areas that I wasn't really that familiar with, so I was antsy and bored. I pulled up at a stoplight, and there was some high school ***** in an Explorer next to me. The light turned green and he punched it, got ahead a few lengths and then let off, whilst I was driving normally. At the next light, I turned off the TC, popped it into PWR mode and waited. I just installed brand new wheels and tires, so I knew the car would grip (not like it has a ton of torque anyway). He jumped a little before the light turned green, and I punched it when it hit green. He stayed at my door for about half a second, and as soon as the auto tranny shifted into 2nd, I pulled about a buslength on him and let off in third at like 65mph.... I gave him a nice good look at my blacked out tails =P

The IS has almost 85k miles on it now but the engine still feels great. It's not fast by any means, but the VVTi I6 is peppy. I think the A/T gearing helps a little bit too, I read that it has 3.73 gears from the factory. The higher the speeds the better it pulls too, for some reason 1st gear really bogs in that car... probably a result of the A/T

Are you kidding me?First of all Your 1MZ-FE motor only has 190 bhp.Toyota overrated there motors until the 2005 year when they were called on it.The matrix is worthless with it's 1ZZ-FE.Unless it is the XRS model with the 2ZZ-GE and then it would owned you.Your car does not have a 3.73 final drive ratio and it is not a I6 it is a V6.

I am truly suprised you beat an Explorer unless it was the 4.0 OHV,Because I know for a fact the 4.0 SOHC would wax you.

Where did you get that the IS300 isn't an I6? And I'd be inclined to believe that it would be a 4.0 exploder. That is probably one of the slowest vehicles that I've ever driven.

The one thing you were right about...It doesn't have a 3.73. It has a 3.91.

Which one is similar to the camry???Is it the IS or the ES series???

As far as the explorer I believe the 4.0 SOHC was rated at like 207 hp.

im pretty sure that the 01 IS300 has a 2jz-ge...and its an inline 6. they used the 1MZ-FE in some lexus models, but not the IS...i believe that the lexus SUVs carried that engine.

the ES series in similar to the camry...i dont know that toyota has a model of the IS300...except for the altezza in japan.

Ok thats where I got mixed up.It is the ES300 that carries the 1MZ and the ES330 carries the 3MZ.Now I have my vehicles straight.I thought The supra was the only car with the 2JZ motor, and some of the I6 lexus cars had a 1JZ??
