Default Power shifting?

Does everyone power shift at the track? My best run is 13.6@ 106mph lifting on every shift. Do you lift at all when you power shift? Seems like I'd hit my rev. limitier pretty quick if I don't.

Thanks, will be going back to the track Wed. to try and better myself, practice makes perfect.

by the way i've tried power shifting on the street, but not at WOT. It seems very unnatural since i've always lifted my right foot, this is going to take some getting use to.

i blow up 3rd gear in my pos t-5 at the track like 3 weeks ago powershifting. wasn't worth it.

anyone know the torque rating on the trannys in the s197? or where to find out?

i know my t-5 is only rated at 300tq which sucks for me

im like you and have always normally shifted, untill i head that powershifting was much faster. (it felt faster) about my thrd race powershiftin Broke my 3rd Gear. So, in my opinion its not worth it. And im sure everyone is goanna say they do it all the time and theres is fine. O wellz!!

If you can shift fast anyway those few extra rpms aren't going to do much and it's not worth blowing a trans over.

Never saw the point in it myself. Your already bringing it near redline, then you take your foot off just to have it slap the limiter or go just a bit higher that millisecond before you get the next gear. That can't be good for anything. Not only that, but I don't see how it can make that big of a difference over letting your foot off the gas. I say if it does make a huge difference over your normal times at the track...you need to learn how to shift faster.

I'm no expert at all, so I could be talking out of my ***. But I do know I like to baby the hell out of my rides, and the idea of "powershifting" scares the crap out of me.

I wouldn't push it much past 450 Lbs of Torque.

The clutch won't hold that much but the tranny should.

never been to the track, but powershift on the street only 1st-2nd tho. not brave enuff to try 2nd-3rd. not w/o a straight geared trans than can handle it. i dont think powershifting makes me any faster. i shift pretty damned fast as it is. so, i probably SHOULD quit doing it so i dont blow my tranny...that would be BAD

Power shifting did help me, i got a better et with a little worst 60'. But also cost me some time away from my car while i had it in the shop. I could only work on it on weekends so took me 3 weekends, getting parts, pulling the tranny apart to replace the shift fork that broke and putting it back together.
Did run by best time that night though when i finnally powershifted every each gear. 13.633@98.67 with a 1.985 60'. Next run thought it was just a bad shift, so ran again, and confermed what had happend. Now i was able to Drive home, drive to work on monday, and then drive it back home a little over a hundred miles to switch vechicles. Never had a problem powershifting when i was at the track before that. But there is a first time for everything.

The 3-4 shift fork i broke was 40 bucks. My car hasnt made a pass since then.
