Power shifting?
ORIGINAL: steele901
i blow up 3rd gear in my pos t-5 at the track like 3 weeks ago powershifting. wasn't worth it.
anyone know the torque rating on the trannys in the s197? or where to find out?
i know my t-5 is only rated at 300tq which sucks for me

I went thru 2 T-45 before I learned not to powershift. My TKO 500 is NOT getting powershifted, not even at the track. I have no doubt it could handle it, but the thought of another tranny swap is my worst nightmare.
Powershifting is most useful in older muscle cars, that stopped making power long before redline.
Now, the best thing to do is to lift the throttle enough to keep the revs from leaping, but not any lower, and add it back as you engage the next gear.

You guys mean that there is another method of shifting besides powershifting? WTF? If you're not a power-man, you're girly-man; but then again I do have a T56
