Default 2001 GT vs. Evo

Trying to think if I could beat an Lancer Evolution VIII with my 2001 GT. I have full bolt ons, and 4.10 gears, but no FI or nitrous. I'm not getting much traction cuz I have worn down rear tires. The Evo is turbo charged and I've got nothing. How much do those cars weigh? I've heard other people saying on here that they have no problems beating sti's and evo's. For some reason I think I'm gonna have a problem, considering they have AWD. I'll get killed from a dig. What are ya'lls thoughts?

Well if he's stock and you're a good driver you could take him from a dig and definitely a role.

Don't those things have 300 hp? And they are tiny. I was thinking I couldn't take him from a dig cuz I don't get any traction with my 4.10's and worn tires (getting some new ones soon), and he has AWD. Aren't I at a huge disadvantage? I mean don't get me wrong, I want to say I could smoke him, but I'm not feeling it.

My friend gave me a ride in his WRX (not STi) and it felt like it hauled way more than my stang, and I figured since these cars are very very similar I dunno if I could do it.

Oh worn out tires? Never mind from a dig you'll get smacked up. From a role you should have a good shot. I think they're 286 hp?

If your friends WRX was stock then it is NOT faster than your GT. I used to have a turbo car and can tell you that turbo vehicles give the impression of speed. When the boost kicks in and the car goes from trash to ok it feels like a rocket when it actually isn't.

A stock pre '06 WRX won't stay with a stock GT let alone one with full boltons and gears.Keep in mind riding in a car always feel faster than driving one.

Ya I dont think we stock GT boys stand a very good chance againest AWD Evo & STI, check out some video on http://www.youtube.com/ , just type in street racing or somthing of that nature. This site helped me relize how sick some of these 4 bangers are. In my mind they should be faster cause there like 5 grand more. Put 5 grand into a stang(supercharger) and those stock Evos arnt in the picture no more.

Hey what's up.
Evo VIII's run 13.3-13.5s with 60ft's from 1.7-1.9s. They weigh inbetween 3200-3300lbs. I dunno what your chances are honestly because im not too familiar with what those mods do on a mustang. I don't launch my car ever and haven't because I want to have my clutch for a while, but if you race one from a stop, you NEED to have some sort of traction. From a roll you'll have a better chance. The new IXs are alittle quicker uptop because of the new cam technology(mivec).
Those are my thoughts. Hope it helps.

+1 I say get some D.Rs and run him.He will probably still out launch you,but it will be much closer than it would be now,and if you can launch near him you should be able to run him down.I see no reason why a full bolt-on GT won't run at least a mid 13 with good traction.

They can, however that will put him only even with the evo, and thats only assuming that the evo is stock, which then it will be a drivers race, however chances are that its not stock
