Z28 Vs. Cobra

+1 Not even the 99/01s have a huge chance of winning because of that heavy *** IRS. Now a manual Mach 1 "should" be able to win.

Too many people here really belive the Mach1 = LS1 line.
In the real world both cars run similar times but with equal drivers the LS1 will always prevail. A Z28 with an automatic transmission and 2.73 gears might have a harder time but it will still eventaully pull on a Mach1.
With that being said the food chain is like this: Mach1 > 99 Cobra > 98 Cobra
Now take into account where the LS1 is.
And a Camaro SS had a better suspension with a different hood, spoiler and wheels. They also had optional SLP stuff to like a Lid and exhaust which gave them 10-20HP over a stock LS1.

Is the Camaro an auto or manual? That could make the difference. My car ran 13.5 stock (crappy 60 ft, g/f ran 13.36 in hers with a better launch) with the better intake manifold and less weight. Remember, this is a convertible Camaro we're talking about.

A Camaro SS and a Camaro Z28 have the same amount of power, dont believe all that advertising bull sh*t that they say.

Hey there ace, I would know since I have had 2 Camaro SS's.
Not only did the SS have a better suspension than a Z28 but it could also be ordered with a optional SLP/Bilstein suspension. And the SS also had a larger muffler and outlets than a Z28 and also had a SLP exhaust option too. Then there was also a Slp/Blackwing lid and filter option too.
The lid and exhaust easily put 10-15hp on a stock LS1. Hell the larger cat-back is good for a few ponies alone without the SLP option.
Who cares anyway even if the Z28 has 2.73's and an Auto it's still going to wax the Cobra. Being a Convertible might make it run what 13.6 and the Cobra might run what 14.0 at best.....

There is a difference, but it's definately minor. If you throw any crappy exhaust at any stock vehicle, it's gonna be better than stock.
But a decent catback/lid LS1 will make more power than a WS6/SS when stock. Even stock for stock there's gonna be little to no difference.
