hehe i thought that was the "cody" too....i especially liked the camaros killing mustangs since 1998 comment... while unfortunate that it's true stock. mustangs were built to be modded. that's no secret

Thats all true, Not to mention the Mustang is Waaaaaayyyy more comfortable and is much easier to get in and out of than my Vette and my former F-body. Sure the GT is the "entry" level muscle car as far as raw power goes but you also have an option for the more powerful Cobra which rivals my Vette.

thats opinion, i think my 92 is more comfortable then the stang, especially with the position of the shifter

I have an auto. But you have a point the shifter is located too far forward.

Honestly you don't believe that....if you do, then why isn't the old 305 meant to be modded? Afterall, it is slightly larger than the 302, and much larger than the 281. But I guess they only make aftermarket parts for the Mustang? Even though Chevrolet leads the way in aftermarket parts....

Way more comfortable? Says who.....the 50 year old having a mid life crisis? If you want a comfortable car, don't buy a ****in pony car. It's not that hard. I bought a pony car to go fast...not to apease the lady's, or to be more comfortable driving it. I have other cars for that.

The 99/01s are mid 13s but that still doesn't put them in LS1 territory all stock.
It kinda does. I ran 13.5 stock, pretty typical for an automatic.
Of course a steeper-geared manual would be quicker than my auto and all Cobras are manual. But still...
Well that 13.5 came from arguably the crappiest combination for the LS1 cars. 2.73 automatic. Now that 13.5 99/01 Cobra time is with a perfect driver. How many of those are out there? I know I'm no where near one myself[&:]
Im nowhere near one either, but a guy that drives for a magazine is not going to drive as good as someone who has owned the car for a while(a good driver). When you get used to a car (know shift points, exactly where the clutch is engauged, etc) I think you are going to be able to drive it better than the magazine guy. Maybe Im wrong. You do not know the conditions that the test were done in. There are many variables in this, and the number 13.5 SHOULD NOT be though of as the lowest ET the car can run in the 1/4.

Whats so hard about driving an auto? If he is inexperienced he probably wont stall it and will probably let it shift by itself so he wont spin or miss a gear. My very first time racing at the track (ever 1.5 rt woot) 100% stock and ran 13.7 (with the "crappiest" 1/4 combo) so i dont think his "experience" will come into play here. If it was a manual sure but its not its an auto. If he doesn't spin out the hole it might be close but I think the z is going to edge it if it is the 2.73. But if it's the 3.23 gears then it wont be as close.
