I thought everyone was saying that the GTI would beat a new edge GT... i looked at the title and i saw 99 v6......with a flashed chip those cars can out run us GT's right?
Lets not get carried away now[&:]

I don't know much about those cars but I doubt some stupid chip can bump them up at least 1/2 second in the 1/4.
a stupid chip *could* give them 50-80hp...its a turbo car, remember.

+1000 on the GTI. Those things run like a 15 flat which is the same as the new Si. Not very impressive but definitely more than enough to take you out.
they run in the 14's.

Si runs a 14.7, Gti is faster.

Si running a 14.7? Haha be serious, I've heard about somebody hitting that but I think he had a few mods. Even if one person did manage that nobody else has.

No chip is going to give you 50-80 hp. If it did then that auto manufacturer must be the worst tuners ever. What is a chip going to do in a turbo car anyway? Turn the boost up 2-3 pounds?

We know a GTI can take a V6. The argument is whether a chipped GTI can take a GT. You are extremely wrong my friend. Their is no "estimate" for how much HP each pound is because that will vary greatly between different turbo sizes. A stock car expecially one in the price range of a GTI is going to have a small turbo. Let's take the second generation DSMs. They came with a T25(gay) at about 12 PSI. You can raise the boost to about 15-16 pounds on a completely stock fuel system. That 3-4 PSI increase may net you 20 hp AT THE MOST and that's probably just crank hp.

Yes the specs say that a gti is a 15sec car. But the Specs also the New Edge GT is a 14.8 but everyone on here says they just dont know how to Drive, so u have to do the same for everycar?? right?

my mistake then i didn't realize you wer comparing the GT, i should have phrased my little tidbit about hp per lbs... i saw a estimate thread and it said that most turbos give about 20-30hp for every pound of boost, was not stating that i should have put a question mark on it... my bad
