I had an auto though so I wouldn't know how to tell you to do it [&:]

Definitely get a line lock. You'll be able to burn the tires just about as long as you want...until the solenoid oveheats, that is.

I do burnouts every Sunday at the local dragway and always use all three pedals. I push the clutch in and turn my right foot sideways and hold the brake with my heal and push the gas with my toes. It's always worked well for me.
Exactly what I do and exactly what I suggest. It's far easier to do that than try and move your left foot to the break quickly. Doing it this way enables you to stay in one spot too. A line lock would be great too, would enable you to get into second gear.

thanks guys i think i have a beter idea now and thanks for not bashing me for not knowing how to do one

Don't feel bad, I don't know how to do one either. When I do, I hope my Spec Stage 2 clutch will handle the torque....

WTF? Are you part droppin'?

I do a burnout like this: Clutch in, rev to 4k or so. Dump clutch and move it to brake. Keep the gas at about 75% and slowly modulate. If I floor it the car will ****** sideways...

Make sure you load the clutch a little, don't just dump it. Kind of load it til your car almost moves, then drop it. Once they get spinning, quickly move your left foot to the brake. Thats how I always do it then slowly release the brake to roll out.

haha that would be hilarious if only my car had traction control lol i would prolly end up doing something stupid like that.

Its pretty funny when you tell all your buds your gonna do a mean *** burnout in the mall parking lot. And then you rev it up your engine sounding real mean you let go of the clutch..and... You burn for about half a second and pull off...oops forgot to turn traction control off
https://mustangforums.com/m_2257345/tm.htm

let me just quote myself so you dont have to find it...
"....back to what a turd i am. Sooo, first time at the track, dont wanna look like a tool, so im in the staging lane, about 4 or 5 back so im gettin ready. traction control off, seatbelt on, windows up, cell phone not in my lap... then the staging lanes get switched. so i shut her down and go meet superiormirage. Then later on they call my lanes again, jump in and by the time i get her started im next up. so what did i forget when i went to stage? yea, never turned the traction control back off - go to do my burnout and stall because the car is doing everything in its power to not spin!!! IM A TOOOL!!! so stupid. anyways, that was the only real F up of the night....."

so yea, traction conrtol has to be off - and if you turn your car off, when you start it again... it turns the traction control back on. lol

I just did my first burn out the way you said and I almost launched my Mustang into the passenger side curb and I had on Mickey Thompson Drag Radials. I reduced the gas from 75 percent to about 50 percent and had better success. There was a lot of smoke. I then lined up and floored it. and quckly noticed on the take off that I got much better traction than ever before. I mean the tires spun but not nearly as vicious as before.

Thanks for the advice.

Bear with me before you start berating me. I just converted my 02 GT from Automatic Aode to a Tremec 3650. I never drove a stick until I drove my Shelby. I am in the learning process. I can get off the line real good now. With the Spec Stage 2 Clutch, all I have to do is let off the Clutch a little at the light and boom, she flys out nicely.

Before all I did was floor the throttle or get on the torque convert and let it go. I usually won the race -- always getting off line first.
