Default Dodge Durango

So this guy I bowl with is always talking sh*t about my Mustang, from like the first day I ever met him at the bowling alley. He tells me I should stop puttin money into the Stang and worry about bowling equipment, which isnt the case for him since he works in the proshop and gets to drill any ball he wants and use it for free. Anyways, he just bought him a Durango, early 2000's model and he said it has a 5.9L. He keeps saying with his exhaust, CAI and chip he will smoke me. He says he hopes to be runnin low 14's in the 1/4 when he takes it to the track next summer. I didnt wanna argue with him because he always thinks he's right when it comes to cars and bowling. What do you guys think he will run with these mods? I'm guessin a high 14 to low 15, but I guess you never know. Oh and he wont take it to our 1/8 mile track, he says he'll only race on a 1/4 mile track.

Lmao. He was also saying something about he has to fix his intake, because there is a part messed up, I was trying to think of what that could be, anyone have any idea? He said he already has it chipped and he was lookin to get another chip installed. 2 chips for one car, seems kinda weird to me.

the hemi durangos can easily get 400+hp with exhaust and a chip. they are pretty quick...like almost turbo cayenne quick, at least the time my buddy and i raced one.

that said, you'll smoke him

luckily, there was no early 2000s hemi durango...

i own two vehicles with 5.9s. one is my winter beater, and the other is the missus 94 ram. with very basic mods it ran 14.80s...and the engine is stock aside from a TB and headers. everything else from the intake manifold to the oil pan is stock. there is no "chip". he has to replace the whole computer, which i have done with ours. i suppose that he could have bought a computer, then bought a hand programmer and tinkering with things, but its not going to do enough to get him into the low 14s.

i dont recall what gears they came with, but it is probably something like a 3.55...

the curb weight on those is around 4500lbs, and her truck weighed in, right off the track, at 4351. he probably also has 4wd, which means more weight, and more drivetrain loss, although if properly used, it could give him an advantage in the launch.

in short, if i was out and about in my fiancees truck, and a durango with exhaust rolled up on me, unless i heard a whine i wouldnt even worry about launching hard (kenne bell makes blower kits for them, but ive only ever seen one) ...and your car should at least run 14.80s...although ive seen worse here.

smoke him.
