Nothing like beating a car with more power, more torque, lighter, and better gearing. That's quite impressive!
I thought S197s weighed just a bit less than the F-body?

Good for you. It's easy to beat a car when it doesnt have traction.

Honestly, I have no idea and am MUCH too lazy to search. The S197's look like boats though....so I wouldn't think they're lighter, but who knows.

I still have a hard time believing all you s197 guys making much less power than these cars and are still somehow beating them. Everyone one of them I've ran into at the track, when I was exhaust/stalled/DR's, has come out the way it should...with me winning by half a second or more and it would just keep getting worse the longer we race.

Yeah, well I guess not everyone is a super stud race car driver like you & every other LS1/LS2 guy here!I mean we all know that your LS1/LS2 is uber strong.....But thatmeans nothing if you cant drive & plant that power. So relax a little when someone here has a good turn out with one of YOUR beloved LS1/LS2 cars!Jeesh........

Honestly, every LS1 I've ever seen with similar mods as my car has ran nearly as well, if not better than my car ever thought about going.

My point, I could take my car 150rwhp ago, or a bone stock LS2 in any car, minus the TrailBlazer, and walk all over a bolt-on s197.....did I mention doing so while holding one beer in my left hand and asammich in the other?

98--Why is it that none of us, or anyone any of us has ever talked to, has ever seen an LS2 goat run nearly what you guys claim it always does? Also, why is it that LS1 fbodies never run the times you guys claim they always do when any of us get out to the track?

I counted at least 7 LS1 cars that bested well worse than me on Saturday, and I ran like shlt. The only ones that impressed me were one LS2 goat that ran 11.9 on the bottle, and a pair of camaros that ran mid-12s with cams, granted that everyone had trouble getting below 2.20 60' out there.

There are many factors that play into a car with slightly less power winning. Traction, suspension, gearing, torque curve, redline, ease of shifting (manual), shift firmness (auto), chassis stiffness (getting power to the ground), aerodynamics, weight, etc. From what I have seen and researched, the s197 has the advantage in all of those categories except aero, and weight, with an occasional torque curve that has more area under it for a given peak tq. It is totally reasonable for an equal power stang to walk an LS1. I've done it and countless others have too.
